Are All Transmissions The Same

I'm looking to exchange the transmission in my 69 1750 boat tail. I have read in Pat Bradens book that any later transmission will fit. I am expecting to change the bell housing but is there anything else I should consider?
Thnks, Steve

Yes you need to consider the electric switch for reverse.

Elio Thanks for your help, doesn't seem it should present a big problem. Steve

There was a change between 73 and 74. The earlier boxes had longer shift rods. The bell housing must be matched to the gearbox. The reverse switch screws into the rear of the bell housing on the later ones and is mounted on a bracket on the earlier ones. It can also be mounted on the turret in place of one of the breathers. My GTV has both. Why, I am not sure.

Reverse Switch

Greetings,
The switch on the rear housing is NOT a reverse switch, I think that it was one for seatbelt interlock or some other stupid buzzer.
Regards, Ian.
