New TA versus manual Sure-Start?

Ricambi informs me that they are stocking the Sure Start manual conversion to replace the Spica TA. The tuning of my newly acquired 78 Spider has made some progress, and the old TA is definitely not working.

I'm trying to weigh the benefits of the $75 Sure Start versus a $145-$200 rebuilt TA. I've lived with manual chokes on British cars my whole life, so I wouldn't mind going with the manual conversion, but perhaps there are strong reasons to keep the TA?

the sure start will work.... but do not forget to push it in the off position when the car is warming up. the T/a is so much easier and much more accurate .

I have used a Shankle Sure Start for over 30yrs. and love it. As far as I'm concerned it's fool proof & fail safe.

After many years of using the TA, when it needed replacing, I tried the Sure-Start for a few years, worked okay, but nevertheless it was some what of a pain to use. Replaced it with a new or overhauled TA, and it works perfectly. I would stick with the TA, but that's just IMHO.

I've used the Sure-Start for years.
Maybe I'm dumb but I see no difference in starting, or running with it pushed in or out. What am I missing??
When the original TA broke (at the racetrack years ago) I definately had big trouble getting it started. Till Allan Ward wandered over and bent some metal pieces to fit into the TA spot.
