Hello again, Today I tested with some spare injectors. No signal to open was received, hence the not running after CSI stops firing.

I guess that I will recheck the (sensors) providing inputs to the FI ECU. If that fails I will have to look for a wiring fault.

Does anyone have any ideas on where to focus, given that this started suddenly?

Any additonal tests to help me narrow down would be good too.

One BIG thing you should try is to use a known good FI ECU to sub yours, that would rule the ECU out at least. Also to "fire" the injector the unit has to make a ground on the injector coil, +12V is always present.

So make sure the grounds of the ECU are solid.

I cleaned and reconnected the grounds and tested the ground at the FI ECU connectorand it tested good.

If I can summarize:

- I have fuel pressure so the pumps and relays can be ruled out.
- I have spark with the timing light, so think I can rule out the ignition ECU
- Leaves me supsecting the FI ECU and its subsystems.

As papajam said, the L-jet is very simple.
it needs to work: MAF voltage, water temp (the white one), tach and power.

I will recheck each of these at the FI ECU connector. Don't have access to another ECU, so if these come OK, I guess I have to find an ECU.

The FI ECU is the fuel injector "brain" or computer module. On the "floor" under the parcel shelf behind the passenger seat. The one on the side wall in same area is the Motronic control or ignition.

Hey all, Sucess! The culprit was the FI ECU. Took a while to eliminate everything else, but on the positive side I have a nicely tuned Jetronic system now.

Special thanks to papajam and ghnl for their help. They are great guys and an asset to the group.

Wouldn't "asset" be a small a$$? My issue appears to be the fuel injectors. Rich from Cruzin Performance says one of the four had a bad solonoid. He's cleaned and tested the other three and they are on their way back. Hope that fixes my problem and I'm back on the road soon too.

Smile Starts and Dies 88 Spider

My G-son finally got extra time from his work this week end--Labor Day. The culprit?? was the FI ECU. Replaced and all smiles
Lots of cudos to ALL. That means you--Lund and gnhl. As soon as I have time to sort out my 84 Spider, I'll post a picture or two of my G-son's 88 that is now running. Mucho Grass to all.
Bobby--I used to race alfas in SCCA from 1967 untill 1977, then became a Steward in SCCA. Once hooked on Alfas you can't get away. I now have two Alfettas and two Spiders and an 74 Saab Sonett. Thanks to all.
