'89 Spider accelerator linkage

When I posted that I had r&r'd the accelerator linkage on my '89 Spider I mis-spoke. Is no longer frozen, but is still sticky, especially at "friction point" in clutch release, leading to some lurching take-offs. There is a circlip on the mechanism, but after its removal the spindle would not break free. Is it supposed to come apart? I imagine it is still rather rusty inside, but unless I smack it with a really big mallet I do not see it coming off. Also, the spindle moves with the pivoting part. Is that right? Does anyone know if this part is available new? I did find that the mechanism is to be maintained at 15m mile intervals, but no help on how. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Skip Watson
