Bargain Boat tail
Fellow Alfisti,
Since this vehicle is located within my stomping grounds I took a drive this AM to investigate. To my surprise I came upon a boat tail (1969) in good condition. From the e-bay listing I didn’t expect much, maybe decent parts for someone’s restoration. Well, the trunk and tire well are solid as well as drivers and passenger floor pans. Tapped on doorsills and found them to be solid as well. Doors open and close with no effort with a light click upon closing. How in the world did this thing survive in a KY backyard for years without rusting completely is beyond me. The present owner (Keith) had jury-rigged a gas can up to the fuel line and hooked up a battery. To my surprise the thing jumped to life without a sputter, and after a few moments of idle blipped a loud cry of anger from sitting for so long. Then he got carried away, revving clearing its throat trying to wake all the neighbors. "Which by the way brought the local sheriff to investigate". I was standing to the side franticly motioning with my hand to my neck for him to shut it back down. After all, there lies a decent 1750 with old oil and who knows what kind of coolant. It needs 4 new tires, a windshield, another battery, tail lenses, and fuel hoses replaced. As well as brakes gone over and new seats. Other than that this car is solid Please someone who has been looking for a worthwhile project jump on this. You know what one of these are worth in restorable condition. I would hate to see someone purchase it that just wants to flip it and make a profit. Everything is there and all of the gauges work. If you’re interested don’t sleep on this one

Woooooooooow, (meaning, good, or bad)!
No wonder no rat nests inside.......even they thought it too ugly....LOL
Seriously, may be a good fixer upper, no? Maybe I will bid......even though no garage space right now.
Thanks for the pics, Alfa!

THe drivers rear rocker looks rusted - is it suggested that it is only surface rust?

Consider yourself lucky... As appealing a project as it may seem, once the project is done, and you total the $$ spent, the yield is an end product that is worth less... (Of course, if what you want is to go through a restoration experience, then that's a different story...)
Best regards,

How about one in LA. It won the daily PCH (Project Car Hell) on the Jalopnik blog.
