Alfajay, nice suggestions. Great events. I left my heart once at Pebble Beach.

Lora - Of course, any "Alfa family" gathering is a great opportunity to see Alfa cars and talk to regular guy and gal owners about running Alfas, operating costs, and fix-up and restoration of every day Alfas. Any local or regional club gathering is a great opportunity for such, and to look at an array of cars from those barely running to concourse cars. I like the show events, but treasure the regular events for "rubber on the road" and vital local advice. Just had a "Coffee and Alfas" this AM in Austin Texas. ARA may be a good choice in NoCal. Regards, Bruce

Thumbs up

Hi Lora- Sounds like an interesting project. I have been working on my 67 Duetto for the last couple of years, the goal being to have a decent looking, solid driver, not a show car. I could've had it finished a lot sooner, but I've been doing as much of the work as possible myself (as time allows), to save $$ where I could. That said, even with a reasonably straight, rust free body and rocker panels, I still had some rust issues underneath and had the floors replaced, front subframes reinforced and replaced the front jack points- not too cheap to accomplish! Then I stripped and prepped the body for paint, and put a few thousand into that, also installing a new top and having the seats recovered. I went through the engine, tranny, rear end, brakes and suspension, again doing as much as I could myself, getting invaluable help from Santo in Northridge when necessary. Sounds like your friend will be a great help here- hope he's up on SPICA fuel injection systems, but this board is a great resource for just about anything you'll need. If you can get this Spider for $4000, you might want to be prepared to sink another $10K into it to have a reliable driver. I certainly don't want to discourage you, you'll end up with a great car that will be a joy to drive, and you won't see too many other roundtails on the road, that's for sure! Sounds like you're doing your homework, have some good, expert advice available, and have your eyes wide open on this- good luck! I'll be anxious to see some pictures of the car, and see if you dive into this project!
