Does anyone know how to install an oil pump on a 1983 Spider??

Well, my Alfa is up and running, and I still have some nice weather to enjoy it!!! Thanks to everyone that helped with their advice.

The car is running well, but there seems to be a slight engine vibration. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to start looking for the cause?

Also, I am going to flush the gearbox and differential, and was wondering if there is anything special about the Gear Lube I should use to refill? My manual says SAE 80 S/90 API GL 5, which is standard Gear lube. Is that correct, or are there any additives used?

Shell Spirax is supposed to the stuff the gearbox was designed to use. But that may be hard to find (and the formula may have changed anyway...).

I have read good reports from those that use a RedLine product. I don't recall the exact one off hand however. And I think different (RedLine) lubes are used in the gearbox & differential.

Re: vibrations. Check the motor mounts, transmission mount, rubber driveshaft donut, etc. How are the fan blades? If the fan is old & yellowed there is a risk of the fan loosing a blade. That will throw it off balance and a flying fan blade can cause lots of damage.

How about the tires? Check for lumps/bumps in both the tread and inner/outer sidewalls. That could indicate a broken cord.

Thanks for your help! I am planning on changing the motor mounts, and will check the transmission mount and donut as well. Also have new tires on my list, so that shouldn't be a problem. The fan looks ok.

Just thought of something else... I can hear the fuel pump (kind of a high pitched buzz) when driving the car, and I replaced them both. Are some noisier than others, and is there any way to quiet it down?

Is the main fuel pump (under the car) mounted through rubber bushes? If it is solidly mounted that would likely transmit a lot of noise into the cabin. With the engine running I don't hear the pump(s).
