91 spider clutch pedal problem

My 91 spider sits in the garage and does not get driven much. The other day i took it for a drive and noticed that the clutch pedal felt harder than ever before. It did not have much free play. I checked the master cylinder and it was down a little but not empty. I topped it off. The pedal still feels harder than ive ever remembered and it grinds into gear sometimes.I did see some fluid on the boot at the rear of the master cylinder. Any ideas? Where should i start? Any help is appreciated.
Tony

Might have had the soft line between the master and slave go to hell internally.

The hard pedal is usually one of the signs of that. (it kinda closes itself off inside and gives pedal resistance but no real fluid flow)
