Cooolant temp gauge... I give up!

OK... Ha, Ha, Ha!
Jokes over,
Who took the wire?

A little history... Last night I was on a very spirited drive up HWY 9 (those of you in Northern California know what I'm talking about). We were almost at the car graveyard when all of a sudden my coolant temp died! Ok, no problem we were coming to a stop in a few hundred feet and I could take a look and sure enough the connector is still in the sender but the wire is gone.

Flashlights out I searched and searched and searched some more... no wire. I walked away then came back and looked again, no wire. Huh, I guess I can make it home without the gauge and I'll take care of it in the morning.

Well, I finally made it into the garage a few hours ago and no wire! I pulled the airbox and poked around... no brown wire. I tried to trace where it would come thu the firewall but couldn't find it.

Can some one clue me into where the wire is routed from? I need a clue!

HELP!!!

-Raffi

If nobody has answered by the time I go home tonight, I'll check my 74 to see where the wire is routed.

That would be great Cliff... I'm truly at a loss for words.

Raffi - The wire goes from the sending unit, overtop the intake manifold and into the major wiring harnass just to the right (as you're looking from the front of the car rearwards) of the washer reservoir, then across the the top of the firewall to the left side of the car.

OK... I swear I looked but I'll look again.

Can you verify the color? Is it a Brown wire?

Yep. Brown, but mine is encased in a black protective sheath.

Well.... I don't know what happened. I blame gas fumes. Yes, I found the wire and I got the car back together.

Wow... a little embarrassing, I can't believe I got so lost but I knew that I could count on you all to give me a hand figuring it out (and we should never speak of this incident again)

Thanks again,
-Raffi
