74 spider front bumper

I wanted to know if anyone has removed the front or rear bumperettes and what did you do to cover the holes?

Can you get trim without or with holes?

Thanks
Frank

For the front you can replace the entire rubber insert with the earlier style, the rear bumperettes actually mount the bumper to the body and would require serious mods.

Hi Ric,

Well I may have no choice but to try this. I will need to remove the right rear bumperette and get 71/72 rubber to go along the bumper and cover the holes for the bumperette.

Where did you get the rubber? What did you do for the front bumperettes? Do they also have holes?

Thanks

On the fronts, I got my bumperette free rubbers from APE. Reoriginals has them too. Don't know on the rear. But with overseas suppliers of new bumpers like spiderpoint in Germany, I would suppose they have access to them as well.

Best Regards,
John M

You can call (209) 833-8330 (simple number for my simple mind to remember). If Larry feels like it he'll answer

The first time I called him (senior) he had me rolling on the floor!

Great source for parts and great people!

So, given I can mount the bumpers without those blocks (with some modification) on my '74... where do I source the rubber to go across the front and rear bumpers to cover up the holes? Was there a US model or is this a Euro part?

Raffi:

See my post above (#6). The bumperette free rubbers (those without bumperettes) were 71 and 72 model year Spiders in all markets. They make a much cleaner look.

Best Regards,
John M

What does the front and rear 72 rubber bumper trim cost? Is this for new or used?

My budget is tight right now so I will need to put this on hold for now. I would like to at least get that rear bumperette repaired. Since I lost mine when it snapped off, if I can get that part for now so the looks better.

Thanks
