muffler/exhaust question

Can any of you guys tell me what the purpose of that small muffler(?) at front of a 105 exhaust does? I have replaced the rest of my system (74 spyder) and I still get a lot of vibration around 3K. all new mounts also.

Let me back up, just figured out it is a resonator. Now just what does that do/accomplish? What would removal do? It sounds BEAUTIFUL now, would'nt want to lose that.

Sounds simply like you have some part of your new system touching the frame, no biggie.
Easy way is to get it on the lift, check it out.
Everyone likes different tones/sounds, but vibrations suck!

Exhaust

Replaced exhaust...?? With stock components? I replaced my rear section with a resonator and developed a vibration. I removed it and went with stock...vibration gone. I have always thought of the front unit as a collector , not a resonator. I could be wrong.

Nothing touching and used stock downturn on tip. That sure got rid of stinky exhaust when top down. Had muffler shop install and they did a very good install. System very firm w/no slop. Gotta keep digging. Thanks for replies.

If you did not have a vibration before and you have one after professional installation, I would look at the equipment. My vibration, more of a resonation, started above 3000 rpm and would diminish after 4000 rpm. I would look in this area
