Restoration : '71 1750 Veloce Spider

I've spent hours quietly sifting through the many restoration threads on here in total amazement at the skill and dedication of Alfa owners, so it's with some reluctance I put up my efforts as I'm truly not worthy !!!

Below is a link to my blog. With a history of the car, the tinkering and improvements I've done lately since dragging it out of storage. It's a fantastic car with a wonderful family history. {I got married in it 15 years ago} It will be enjoyed by my family for decades to come.

So the full bare metal body restoration has begun....

While the major bodywork is being done away from home, i've been readying smaller bits and pieces.

Prepping metal carrier for new door felts, refurbing door clips, attaching new window felts.

This was a mark up I sent to my father, to show him why we decided to replace panels after revealing the nasties on the RHS....

I'm kinda overwhelmed right now Charles seeing the car the way it is, as she wasn't "all that bad" to begin with, but the end results should be worth all the trauma now and into the future.:-)

Worst thing is not being able to drive it....as I was thrashing her every morning I could.
Whilst she looks a little distressed right now, she's was a good driver.

Found this in the roof of house in clean up!
I think this is the original radiator fan shield....as the car hasn't got one.
More surface rust, more sanding, more painting.

I think the shield is plastic, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, most have a plastic shield from just googling images, that is more substantial than the one shown.
Maybe this isn't off the Spider ??....I'll have to check

Edit: could it possibly be off 68' 1600 GTV ? google photos show similar on 1600 models.
Dad had one of those for many years and did a complete engine rebuild once upon a time...
Maybe he left if off the GTV?

Don't blame you for being overwhelmed! It certainly looked great in the videos and earlier photos. Hopefully it will be back on the road very soon looking even better than it did before.

Thanks Charles
I was with the car today, it looks amazing. Vince {Long time friend and metal/paint artist} is doing a fantastic job.
New panels are on and the alignment and fitment is brilliant....so much better than it ever was.

Yeah, the car always looks pretty in the pics, and hid a lot of issues....but soon it will look stunning in the flesh as well:-)

Some pics from today....one very straight little Spider
