istalling roll bar on 84 spider

Are there any after market kits?
Or do I need to custom fabricate?

Rollbar

Don`t think about a bolt in kit!
Have a reputable fabrication shop build in a custom cage to match lines of windshield pillers etc. It will be far lighter and safe.

Tubing should be 1.5" X .090" 4130 tubing. (Chrome moly)

Richard,
Would a custom cage allow the top to go up and down and would the car still be practical for my use?

The top clearance vs. helmet height is a big problem for a Spider. If you're not worried about track events, with the helmet height requirement, then something like a street autopower bar will clear the top. Otherwise, you need to:
1. Remove the top to clear a taller roll bar
2. Create a "folding" bar
3. Disconnect the mounting pivots do the top can be raised over a tall bar then reconnected (this is what I have done).
4. Remove the bar when you want to use the top

And, as Richard says, most race series require a roll cage instead of a roll bar. My (tall) roll bar is only used for AROC time trials.

Thanks George. Maybe I should stick with my original plan to turn my GTV6 into a track day car and just enjoy the Spider on the roads.
