Pages Not Loading

For the last 30 days or so, every time I open a new page in this forum, it won't display any content unless I use the "refresh". I didn't think too much about it at first, it was inconsistent. But now it's every time I click anything that would change the page.

This only happens here at the Alfa Forum. Not on other forums, not on other web sites. If it matters, I have Vista Ultimate 64 bit, Internet Explorer 8 and all the current updates. My Internet connection is 25 / 25 (25 megs download / 25 megs upload). I have verified this at: Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test

Posting comments is difficult because the page that should open does not. When I use the "page refresh", my text gets lost. I have learned to use Copy and Paste, but trying three time to post one comment is really a pain in the #@%

I don't expect my firewall, anti-spy or anti-virus is at fault. The rest of my Internet life works fine including other forums that use the same PHP engine that the Alfa Board uses.

Any little thing that you guys can tweak to resolve this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Racer Z

Thats odd, mine is working fine with only a slight delay, if there are a bunch of pictures in the forum I'm opening.
Maybe a setting on your computer needs changing????

If I knew which setting(s).

This only happens while I'm in the Alfa forum, so I figure it's something within the forum and/or host.

I'd try a different browser and see if you have the same experience. I'm not an IE user and I've not experienced what you're describing with Firefox. I also don't run Vista; I've stayed with XP.

Just a thought as far as improvement or trouble-shooting.

XP was never released publicly as a 64 bit Operating System. I've been using Vista 64 since it was released about a year ago without any problems.

I will try another browser such as Firefox. Anybody that ever said Explorer was the best is clearly a lier.

I don't think it's a 64-bit vs. 32-bit issue. More likely, it's a Javascript issue relating to the subscription level (dynamic advertising in non-premium accounts) or a Cookie handling issue (makes sure IE allows AlfaBB to set cookies and that the "Remember Me" for the AlfaBB checkbox is ticked). To make sure you're not dealing with a corrupt cookie, log out and back in.

I also support the notion of trying Firefox (with Adblock Plus) and see if the behavior changes.

I also use AdBlock Plus as well as IE View for those things that are just too clunky without it; for example Outlook exchange services. I also use meebo based Firefox, which I really like and have downloaded the JAVA Quickstarter as an add-on.

I have a non-premium account as Ruedi indicates, not by choice, but because of the parameters set by the administrators that I'm not willing to accept as far as display properties.
