I need some Information about my diff please.

Hey guys.

I currently own a KE70 Corolla (I know it's not an alfa romeo but i'll get to that)

It has a 1G-GTE in it (A Toyota 2ltr 24 valve inline 6 turbo engine in it from a Toyota Supra).

The diff is from a '71 104 Berlina with 4.3 Limited Slip Diff Gears. I was just curious about the diff whether it was just a 1, 1.5 or 2 way LSD?

Thankyou very much.

Is the diff actually from that car? and if so does anyone have any links to that car, I am just Curious to see what it looks like.

Thanks a lot guys!

My car:

Toyota Corolla KE70 1984

Modifications etc:

Engine: 1G-GTE 2 Litre Twin Cam 24 Valve
Turbo: Hybrid VL commodore with T04 wheels, T04 compressor cover
Deltagate II external wastegate
Gearbox: Alloy supra 5 speed with cast iron sandwich plate
Clutch kit: Toyota clutch plate with RPM pressure plate
Front struts and brakes: RA60 Celica modified adjustable coil overs
Shocks: front Koni adjustable
Tailshaft: modified Corolla with supra front uni and alfa romeo rear uni
Diff: Alfa romeo ‘71 model 104 Berlina LSD 4.3:1 ratio
Axles: 27 spline
Front seats: Honda Accord late 80’s
Exhaust: 3in mandrel bent - 1 resonator and 3in muffler
Distributer: Toyota 5M EFI motor modified shaft with 1G-GTE gear
Methanol injection: 50% water + 50% methanol

Yes, that would be a diff from a Euro spec Berlina. I'm not sure if you actually have a 4.3 for two reasons. One is that it's from a Euro spec Berlina and is pretty rare and two is that to my knowledge they didn't come in LSD form (the 4.3). Although it may be possible that there are some 4.3 LSD diffs out there in which case you got a rare bird.

Oh the model for that series of cars is 105 for Euro spec (105.48 to be exact) and 115 for US Spec. Same cars (almost) different designation. They are sometimes used interchangably but this is incorrect as there are differences.

For all your Berlina needs check out:

www.berlinaregister.com

You should get yourself a Berlina and join the fold of Alfa Sedan owners! They are fantastic cars.

Thanks for the help mate. but yes it is 4.3:1

do you know what stud pattern it is? 4x100 maybe?

I am in Australia and so there aren't that many decent alfa's over here. I am strictly Toyota and Ford (australia. American fords are ugly).

But yes thankyou again for that information!

If you are in AUS then yup, for sure it's a 4.3 w/ LSD. Very cool. I don't know the stud pattern offhand. I know the Alfa Digest has quite a few Aussie Alfisti on it. You may want to post to that.

I believe it is 4x108. Same as (American) Fords As for what a Berlina looks like:

Just to keep things local, this is my Sydney residing Berlina (Yellow one at front). Very few are left in Sydney. I've seen maybe 5 registered for road use in about 5 years. I do know there are more lying dormant around town though. The diff is the same as that found in the more common Coupe and Spider models so most Alfa specialists will be able to reduild it if neccesary.

Cheers

yeah it's on straight lpg. the guy who built the car converted it so is cheaper to run/emissions etc.

but yeah it's a pretty cool car. it should be fully registered by next week or the week after hopefully.

Alot of cars in Australia, mostly Japanese and so-called Australian cars, run on LPG.

What boost pressure are your running? What petrol ecu are you using? I am guessing that your spark control is from the donor Supra?

when I got it it was on 5psi I put it on 10psi but the turbo needed a rebuild (was really smokey on boost and the turbo leaked oil etc) so it's getting rebuilt now. I want it on like 12 or maybe like 15 but most likely 12. it doesn't have an ecu as it is LPG. lpg uses a carby.

That is a lot of boost. So your not running dual fuel at all? Can't LPG just be plumbed into the throttle body of an injected car?

it's straight lpg no petrol whatsoever. all the fuel pump/tank, injectors etc have been removed.

see in the pic of the engine bay that thing in the bottom right of the engine bay with the blue round metal thingo on top? well the grey (with black and red striped) hose is where the LPG vapour goes into the carby (the thing with the round blue thing on it). mixed with air etc then goes into the turbo...

it's like $19au to fill the tank. I don't know how far it gets me yet as I haven't had a chance to drive it fully and the LPG is getting tested and tuned in 2 weeks. so it's running a bit rich at the moment.
