berlina's propshaft length

Does anyone knows the total length of a Berlina's (105) and of a Giulia's (105) rear half propshaft (measure from mid flange to rear flange with the spline all the way in)?

I can measure tonight. Berlina and Giulia sedan rear pieces are, from memory, the same length, and the length due to wheelbase difference is in the front piece. I have put a Berlina rear shaft piece in a Giulia (Berlina is bigger diameter).

As I say, it'll fit though, as I did it. I know a 2000 shaft will have 9mm bolt holes, and a 1600 shaft will have 8mm, but I can't recall which the 1750 shafts have.

Yep, I just looked it up. Late Giulias and all 1750s have the same PN for the rear driveshaft half. It's 105.48.15.107.03; there are other earlier Giulia PNs, but this indicates they should interchange. Bolts for Giulias and 1750s are 2100.20042, 8mm with washers and nuts.

2000s use shaft 105.12.15.017.02 and bolts 115.09, 9mm with lock nuts.

I have the two sizes in my garage. The Giulia shaft is about 2 1/4" in diameter, the 2000 is about 2 3/4" diameter. Each is 36 5/16" long, give or a take a 1/16" due to tape measure (and operator) error/parallax.

Thank you all of you! Now, a fiend of mine has a Berlina 2000 with auto gearbox. Will the normal rear half propshaft fit to his car?

Ah, the questions get tougher. I don't know, but would guess so. The parts manuals don't show the auto transes. I have a Berlina auto trans maintenance manual, and can look at it to see what it shows, but it's not a parts manual.

I do know that S4 automatic Spiders have use an 8-hole donut, not the 6-hole donut used on manual trans cars. That might affect only the front driveshaft piece, if true. Dunno if that's the case with Berlinas, but I'll see what I can find.

I looked in my auto trans shop manual. Berlina ZF auto transes have a three-pronged yoke on the output shaft, so use a six-hole donut, presumably the same as the manual trans. However, the output shaft has not ball/olive as does the manual trans, so the front driveshaft piece does not need to have the centering bushing that fits on the ball, and in fact might hit the yoke. Other than that, the installation of the front and rear driveshaft pieces looks the same as on a manual trans. No PNs in this manuals, I'm afraid, though, so I can't verify.
