So do you need that one still? If you have spare doors, you must have spare trim?

Thanks for the offer guys, but one of the spare door I got from you, George, earlier this year, had the trim piece that was needed. As it turns out, all of the lower pieces on the rear doors are exactly the same, just turn them around to fit the other door.

The other issue about the rear door inside handles will be solved temporarily with the use of a vise grip, unless something comes along that's more permanent.

And as promised back in post #70, here's a couple pictures of the interior work that's been done. I'll get better pictures when everything is done, and the car is outside in the sunlight.

Update: 10-8-2008

Well, another mid-week trip to check on the progress. Actually, I got an email that said that there was a problem with mounting the seats. To put them in a position that was most comfortable for me, the seat back would be under the harness bar of the roll cage, meaning my shoulder would be resting on the bar and not on the back of the seat. We decided to relocate the harness bar by attaching it to the down tubes of the roll cage. If you look at the third picture in post #66, just above Hugo's left hand is where the bar is being relocated, just about level with the existing location.

Other news is good too, the new Magnaflow exhaust system has been installed, and the tail lights have also been installed and are working, and once the driver seat gets mounted, the car will be driven (not towed) back to the body shop for some touch-up work (there's a 16 item list of things to do/redo).

The new Magnaflow exhaust sounds sweet, a nice low rumble at idle, and a loud but not obnoxious tone at higher rpm's, much better than the sound from the old system (stock??).

Did you have to modify the Magna Flow much to fit in the Super ?
Always wondered how it would fit. You may be the first to put one on a Super.

Randy,

I'm not sure, but I don't think any modification was needed, but Anthony would know for sure (maybe he'll notice this post and reply), they did the installation for me as part of my restorations re-assembly. I'll get picture the next time I'm down there and we can get the car up on a lift.

Randy,

I went it to check on the progress the body shop is (isn't) making with some of the work thats being redone, and some of it's completed, but I don't think I'll making to Woodley Park in two weeks, that's just cutting it to close.

To answer your query, I asked Anthony and he said they had to add about a 6 inch section into the system to make it fit. Apparently a GTV and Super are just about the same overall length, but the Super has a slightly longer wheel base, thus requiring the extension.

Thanks! I knew that there were some differences, but never knew the exhaust would be longer too. Sounds like an easy fix.
Can't wait to hear it in person !!

I'm Starting to get depressed, and loosing a little interest....

The car was taken back to the body shop to redo a couple of things, and to do some other stuff that was overlooked altogether. They said it would only be a couple of days. Well, this was two weeks ago. When this project was first started, they said a couple of months to completion, we got the car back 4.5 months later. So, 2 months estimate equals 4.5 months, and 2 days estimate equals 3 weeks (so far). I just don't understand this new math.

How do I light a fire under their butts without pissing them off? I suppose if I could speak Spanish I might have had a better chance in get my point across when we started, and every time I went over. When we sent the car back I gave them one simple instruction, "PLEASE leave the windows rolled up because the new interior is in the car". Guess what I found last Saturday when I went to check on the progress?

Well, maybe if I ever have another such project, I'll try to do it myself, but I'll need more than a one car garage, but that's a story for another time (and forum).

Sorry to hear about the delays Gifford. Doesn't Santo's have any leverage on them? Can't Anthony lean on them to get it done? I assume you have paid the body shop. Otherwise I would consider telling them that you are planning to pick up the car in 3 business days (should be plenty for them to finish), and if it isn't done, you will keep the balance - be prepared to pay someone else to finish the job, though. The minute no $ is owed "they" couldn't care less - a typical attitude these days, unfortunately

Well, my Super has been back at the body shop for the touch-up work for a month. I went yesterday, and took one of the guy that is helping put the car back together, to check on the status. The shop claimed to be done, and the car looks great, but upon inspection, two item remain undone. The lead guy at the body shop told both of us that he'd have it done before 3PM yesterday afternoon. When they had not showed up with the car by 2:30, I went over to the body shop again, and all but one guy was gone, and my car hadn't been touched.

If I ever do another restoration, I probably won't go back to this shop (Miracle Auto Body in Northridge). Now don't get me wrong, they do excellent work for the money, but they are a bunch of flakes. They don't understand the concept of sticking to a schedule, and delivering a product when promised, in four more days it will be 7 months.
