The Berlina tour, with ARA folks joining, is confirmed for Saturday, March 22, beginning in Fairfield and winding through Napa Valley; all cars are welcome.
Those who want to caravan from Fellini's coffee shop in Berkeley (University Ave and Acton St) will leave at 8:45 AM.
The tour proper will leave at 9:30 AM from the Starbucks at Suisun Valley Rd. exit off of I-80 in Fairfield, just east of the I-80/I-680 interchange; Starbucks is on the south side of the freeway.
Email for more info if you'd like. I can send you the route description, and will have them, and maps, at Fellini's and at the start in Fairfield. Lunch stop planned in St. Helena, done by mid afternoon.

3-22 photos
Unfortunately my camera decided not to work yesterday, but here's a set of photos that I was able to take with my phone. It was a GREAT run, with only one mishap that I was aware of. I'll let veLOce speak to that, if he cares to

Thanks again Andrew for organizing the event, and for ensuring we had picture-perfect weather.

yeah, well...
I started the day early around 7am.. pop riveting in a flange to replace the rusted metal which is supposed to hold the gas tank in place...
And during some hard cornering (which I cut kind of deep) the rivets pulled from the questionable metal they were applied to and the tank became once again separated from the car..
luckily we had some bungee cords a length of hydraulic hose from a ****-troen, a cardboard box and a ball point pen. From which we were able to fashion a "limp home" solution.
Nominations for the Darwin awards were skipped this year, we'll save that for riding around on old motorcycles this summer...
Best part of the day for me was the general excitement from the new girl friend, both about touring around in a parade of old cars, spirited driving, and yes even losing the tank..
shes a trooper.
After the recent motor and suspension rebuild, it looks like it's time to tend to some of the rot. Jeez what a car!

Hmmm, reminds me of my University days. I had a 1959 Mercedes 220S (4 door sedan). We went out one morning and the passenger door fell off in my wifes hand when she opened it. The door posts were completely rusted off. I had to weld a bracket to the frame to remount the lower hinge. The trunk was full of burlap bags coated with roofing cement.....Ahhhh, those were the days

Given the possible outcome of an incident like this one, everyone involved is extremely fortunate. You all could have read this story in the SF Chronicle instead of Alfabb.com That said, by way of nothing but coincidence and luck, it occurred 50 yards from the local fire station.
A detail veLOce left out: after this unfortunate event, his new girlfriend not only buckled up but also kept a fire extinguisher at hand. (So she might be crazy, but not stupid.)

Boy, I can't top that no matter what. I'm glad you guys got home OK. That's one way to break in a new relationship.
Here a couple of my pics, and a link to Shaun's fulviacam (thanks Shaun) site.
