'69 windshield in a '73

Will a 1969 Berlina glue in windshield fit in a 1973 Berlina? Did they offer glue in windshield in 1969? Will a gasket windshield fit in a 1973 Berlina? If there is a choice which do people prefer glue in or gasket?

All the windshields are basically interchangable in the 105/115 sedans. So you can either glue-in a gliue-in winsheild or install a gasket windsheild with the gasket. The gasket windsheild should also have an aluminum locking/trim strip which is a different piece(s) than the trim for the glue-in windsheild. I have seen two slightly different sizes of the glue-in, both work. When installing the glue-in you need to trim the windsheild surround on the interior side with windlace, sometimes called snap trim. In any event when you remove the old windsheild be ready to do bodywork arround the opening, as there will be some corrosion. As to which is better, the gasket type is easier to remove and reinstall. The glue-in type may seal better initially if enough sealant is used, but is a tricky install, the factory glue-ins suffer from the glue/sealant drying out and leaking leading to the corrosion. The gasket type, to seal propperly requires a smooth, well finished opening.

PS you can install the gasket type without the trim, but it won't look right.
