'66 Super headliner problem

I'm trying to source a headliner for my Super rebuild. I tried IAP... but in reality their Sedan listings appear to be for Sprints. Andrew Watry tells me a Berlina headliner won't fit. Any one have success fitting a IAP headliner? or other supplier?

Andrew suggested I simply have one made, but I am unsure how many bows I am supposed to have and install(the car came without a headliner to template). I seem to have 4 large diameter rod bows and 3 smaller diameter rod bows. Are the smaller ones simply to hold up the fiberglass insulation? Should I replace the 1/2" fiberglass filler with something else while I'm at it?

headliner

HI,

I'm also just about to buy one for my '66 Super. (snakebite type)
Any specialist here in Europe should be able to get you a brand new one.

try:
ebspares in UK
elvezio esposito in italy (Manufacturer !)
heinbrand, hurtienne in Germany.
arpart.nl in netherlands
.....and so many others !

The price is usualy around 170$.

The rates for shipping are not so high from Europe to the US...
If you are interested, I may enquire the price for 2 pieces (save $$ !!) and then arrange the shipment to the US.

regards
sebastien

I just looked at my Super; including the sort of siamesed double bow right above the back window, my 67 car has seven seams/bows. I never saw it when it was out of the car, but I realize I do have a removed one stashed in my garage, which I can look at in the next day or two to see the topside.

A Berlina kit might work as a starting point, but Berlina rear doors are longer than Giulia by a couple inches, and the shape of the back window and the C pillars, is pretty different. I don't know how these kits look when you get them; if they're pre-sewn, I'd expect a Berlina kit to not work. If they're individual pieces, maybe you could modify.

Should I dig out my uninstalled headliner? I'd expect the bows all to be metal rods/flat metal, not plastic or fiberglass, but I'll have to look.

Andrew, I was only curious about the rod count if I needed to have a headliner fabbed or needed to radically modify a Berlina Kit. I will likely take Sebastian's suggestion and order one from abroad. I know AlfaHolics in the UK carries them. If I have to fab a few new bows to fit... really no big deal.
It's just a shame the dollar is so weak!

I was trying to install the headliner before re-installing the glass. How much more difficult is it to install the headliner if the glass is already in place?

Thanks for your help

Charlie

You can't do it properly with the glass in place, because the material wraps around the seam that the glass gasket fits on. Headliner first, glass second.

The bows are set in first and the headliner is stretched to wrap around the lip where the rubber gasket sits, so it all sits nice and tight. ReOriginals has the proper material in stock.

I spoke with IAP again this afternoon. It appears their web site is more descriptive than the catalog in this case. Along with the 7 bow info from Andrew, it seems a item 30266 is correct for a TI/Super. I am giving it a shot.

Thanks,

Charlie

Supercc,

Can you post some pics as you do this project? I have this to look forward to in the future for my 7-bow Super.
Thanks.
