You only paid $1200 that is a great deal, even if it needs alots of work.
Where are you located? Great Britain?
Goodluck with it, you will be enjoying it daily.

Ok, this is a discovery!
I live both in Greece and Cyprus Island. In Greece I have a Berlina 2000, and two step nose ( need both a lot of work). Some days before I found this Gulia, while drinking coffee under the wonderfull sun of Cyprus. I spoke the guy (23 years old) and bought it at once. Today I went and drive back the car. And now I HAVE A BIG STORY fellows....
The young knew some things about AR and he was a good driver indeed. While we were talking, he mentioned that his uncle gave him for free a special " junior" with alluminium body parts... How many spark wires she has? asked him. Not 4 but 8, he replied... Where is that car, I asked? Do you have time to go there to have a look? But of course, I said...
Well, driving to see those ...light panels etc, told me that when his uncle was in Milan in 1966-1969 for studies, he ordered this special "junior" from AR.
Well, YES the car exists in perfect condition All the parts are on, it is blue and what else? Men for what I can recall perhaps the car has a 16Valve head. Could be possible? It is 1300cc. The old licence says, AR Gulia GTA 1300! I was so happy to discover a GTA original and in perfect condition. Must be rare too, since is RHD. On the other hand I dont think the guy will sell it. I'm willing to help him in everything about AR, hoping some day...who knows. I was started to tell hime how good is a Honda S2000 etc bla bla.
Ha,ha. We are crazy, I know

I've heard some great free Alfa stories, including the AlfaBBs own BlpltGTV, but I think this young Cypriot has them all beat! Thanks for sharing it. I think my knees would have buckled when I saw it. Great buy on the Super 1300. You're sure to enjoy it.

Yes, many stories like these were and are in the air, just to exploit our imag. But, I was there! Really, I will try to help the young guy to have the GTA in good shape and I will be so proud of it, no worries 'cause it isn't mine, no worries for future buying from him ( if it will happened, welcoooome). A car like this must be for all of us. I liked a lot the young alfisti. His hands were dirty from oil when he brought me today the Gulia and he had the smell of gas, too. The smell from an old Alfa. Must help...

Zachary,
I'm glad in your second post today, you said you were passing on the car, because I bought it this morning and drove it home to Santa Fe. No problems going 75, except as you said about the brakes - stopping took some planning. Are you pretty sure the brakes only need bleeding? And it sure does need a dash fix - are caps available for Berlinas?
I hope I didn't take it away from you, but I promise to be a good Alfa owner, put lots of money into it and sell in a few years at a loss.
I posted this elsewhere today, but I tried to register this car today and couldn't get through to the site to do it and an email to the owner bounced. Does anyone know about this?

Steve,
Sounds like the Berlina went to a good home. Congratulations! And no, I'm not sure the brakes just need a bleed, that was just my first impression. Could be the master cylinder or some such as well. I put a Milano master cylinder on my GTV and it's worked great.
