On the SEM paint, someone mentioned rolling on paint versus spray. If I'm going to do the headliner this is the time (with the seats out and new carpet yet in. However, I'm still leary of spraying no matter how well I mask it off. Is SEM spray only?
I bought the fuzzy seals off of Ebay--it was about 6 months ago. I don't have the details handy, but I think I paid about 175-200 USD and bought them from someone in Washington state. These were NOS. I keep seeing a set on Ebay from Lebanon--not sure why they haven't sold but they reappear from time to time.
Next is seat upholstery. Right now, the seats are mostly okay with some serious sun cracking across the tops, especially in the rear. Does anyone know of a supplier of Super vinyl? I haven't come across one and assume that I'll have to get a local shop to do the seats. Of course, this won't happen

Progress
Making some progress on the carpet project with the passenger underway at the carpet level and the driver side now completed with the Dynamat.
The old carpet looks pretty beat when the remnants are laid out. The new stuff is looking good and going in reasonably well using a combination of the hold-down screws/washers, carpet glue, and carpet tape.
On the sound-deadening, has anyone used some kind of noise suppression "stuff" behind the rear seat? It's just open to the trunk there except for the rubber trunk liner mats.

Thanks Richard. I just ordered 3 cans of White Super from Eastwoods. I figure I'll tackle the headliner refurb before getting the seats back in and putting on new door seals.

That's exactly how I did it.

The headliner re-paint is turning out to be more of a PITA than the carpet!
Of course, I should have done the headliner first before the carpet--just the taping and covering was time-consuming. So far, though, have gone through one can of spray paint and it looks like it will turn out pretty nice.

On the sound deadening question behind the seats. In the trunk behind the seat under vertical matting rubber mat, from the factory, is the sound deadening, the usual nasty stuff. I remove it and replace with 1/2" closed cell foam.

'Elvezio Esposito' (check for website) in italy is able to supply you with the EXACT vinyl (Texalfa) (from the OEM suppliers) used on your Super. I received some samples of their products from a french dealer and the cloth and vinyl are exactly the same as the original one. They sell complete kits for each type of car. All the French specialist source the upholstery from them. They (Elvezio) prefer to work with professionals (dealers, retailers) but since a few years it is possible to buy directly from them, even if it proves sometimes to be more expensive than sourcing from a retailer !!
It does not come cheap but it should be related to quality .
Regards
Sébastien

Rogerspeed--thanks for the tip. I thought something should go there--kind of defeats the purpose of sound deadening if the interior is open to the trunk (except for the rear seat).
Sprint 1750--thanks for the tip on the seat materials. I had not found anyone that supplied the original seat materials (Re-originals has it, but extremely $$$). Question: do you know if elvizio will send samples? I can't figure out what the differences are between the versions listed on the following page (seems to vary by colore and cost):
http://www.elvezio.com/cgi-bin/store...=1806042.28297
Thanks.

I'm just going to keep going with this thread even though it started with carpet and morphed to seats, headliner, etc. Now, time for door seals.
I replaced the driver and passenger door seals on the driver side (the ones on the doors themselves, not around the body door opening area). Both doors now take more effort to close. The rear door seems pretty decent to close--it's not like it takes a huge slam to shut it, and it closes with "authority". The driver door seal definitely has some fit issues and requires a pretty good effort to shut.
Checking other threads, there is some guidance from Andrew on trimming back a an area of the seal "lip" near the hinge area (at driver's door). However, before I do that, is there any chance these seals will "crush" a bit over time? These are Centerline-supplied seals and, relatively, speaking, the installation was not the big nightmare I thought it would be (I used a dull screwdriver to assist, versus a spatula or popsicle stick).
The seals make a huge difference, especially as the old driver door seal was crumbling to nothing. No complaints with the non-original seal profile, though a bit of trimming may be in order.

My experience is these aftermarket seals do not crush much as time goes on. Mine have been in for more than 10 years, and my RR door seal still doesn't fit very well. All the others are OK, after the trimming mentioned above. Be careful, as you don't want to make a route for water to flow to the interior. My efforts were by-guess-and-by-god, but came out OK.

Thanks Andrew. This Super is like my previous Spider--it never goes out in the rain
I did some cutting and trimming and cleaned up a bit with a Dremel on the driver door seal. It still is not perfect, but I may just keep it this way for a while. Had some difficulty with the seal as it "rounds the bend" at the bottom of the door, but the interference actually seems to be a bit higher.
Next is the passenger side...

The original seals seem softer, and appear to deteriorate more than these modern ones, though they are 30-40 years older.
