What you get to see on the street in Berkeley

This was parked on my street two doors up from my house Sunday. It's Dan Marvin's car, from Norman Racing. 10 minutes later, a street-legal Lola T70 went up the street full blast. Amazing.

I know Berkeley has a reputation, but most folks don't realize it's for cool cars that really get used.

So unfair. I need one of those. Is that back window actually a windshield?

sounds like you can sit on a corner with a lawn chair and watch a lot of cool stuff drive by.

That's one of the few reasons I miss living in Berkeley.

The back window is not a windshield or a Giulia rear window, but there are different variations.

Here is Conrad's turbo 2000 Giulia TI wagon (with my son Luke). It has a Super dash and 69 GTV front seats, modified rear seat to match the fronts. Full-height tailgate.

I got to drive it briefly on Saturday; it too was parked in front of my house. The turbo setup is based on a Jafco manifold, but Conrad has done a ton of development, including an intercooler in a body bulge with GTA style grille opening below the bumper and making his own intake manifold. Still a work in progress, he says, but it's so cool. Not many all-window wagons around.

Berkeley is directly opposite the Golden Gate, a hair north of SF, across the bay north of Oakland. A few flower folks still around, but they mostly don't know what decade it is.

Let's not forget the ethnic bullying, the oppressive PCness and extremely high cost of living.

BUT I will say, it has thee perfect climate, tons of great old foreign cars and cool folks like Andrew around.

Andrew;
So glad the Lola is still being drivin on the streets.
I have not seen it in years. It used to crewz the hills all the time .( if its the same one)
I also miss the all Green Lotus 11 that was real and street driven.
Any info on that one?
For the rest of the crew here who dont live, work around here. There is a daily driven early 289 green cobra with white hard top I have seen that car age for over 3+ decads
The paint is worn off it and the owner drives it to Cal. all the time.
In the last year I have taken to standing when it goes by!!
Its so orgiginal, I love it....
Its true what Magista posts
Dont get to exited folks, Most folks here hate cars.
Berekely Toyota sold more Pirus then all that sold in the U.S.A. the new reported some time back.
One of the above names & I where having lunch and had our alfas parked My 750 and his some *** tries to park in between us because theres room for 3 cars even though theres only 2 parking meters.
Then thay have attitude!!!! Lucky for me I was in 5th with no brake on so incase of bad driver parking my car will roll. Thank God some one screamed when my car was being pushed back. And we ran out there.......
I love this place But people need respect.
