Just purchased a 67 Giulia Super, need some advise
Hello all, I'm new to the board. For most of my life I've been a Lancia owner, still have a couple of them hiding about. A local Alfa guy had a garage fire and I purchased the Giulia super that was affected. Damage is mostly centralized to the interior, glass and paint.
Given the complete destruction of the interior, i'm thinking of building the car to a vintage racer/vintage rally spec.
How available are dashes, interior compenents? Anyone here prepped a Super for racing? I'd appreciate any input. Thank you!

Congrats on your purchase. Parts can be had with some sniffing around. There are a couple people who have prepped 'em fer racing. I'm sure they'll pipe up.

I just got the car to the shop today. Wow, the damage to what was a pristine car is amazing. I'll take a battery of photos over the weekend. Very sobering to see what an electrical short can do.
But, on the high note, this Super will run again!!!!

Sounds like Carter's car? Glad to see it going to an enthusiastic owner.
Just be REALLY clear on which series you're going to race in, so you can build a car that doesn't exceed their specs. Get to know that rule book intimately.
Having Carter work on the car would be fantastic, as his depth of knowledge is fantastic.

Steve, yes this is Carter's Super. Greatfully, he has agreed to consult on the car's rebuild. My goal to make the car eligible in several series. I'd like to run the car in vintage events, some road racing, and possibly historic stage rally. Maybe a bit ambitious, but flexibility will be key.
I've been told a 2 liter is the engine of choice as "everyone" is running them. That may ding me for true vintage stuff, i'll have to do a bit more research.
I did a bit of research in the pics section. There are some beautiful Supers in race dress. Good motivation.

Just a remark,
Everyone does not run 2liter engines. I know a few of us is running 1750 engines.
For me the advantage is that the 1750 has the perfect ratio between bore and stroke
Horsepower whise it is not short of the 2 liter, right now i have 118hp on the rear wheels, about 150hp in the engine, and it revs close to 7000 before i shift.
With the old head it had 175 hp in the engine, I might do that again...
Good luck with your project Zagato78
Mechanical parts is available, bodywork is more difficult.
Question, do you have standing pedals and wire operated clutch? If you do I got some tips for you.

Dan,
It would help to know where plan to race your car the most in order to give guidence on a setup. One of the biggest vintage groups in the northwest, SOVREN, is pretty strict as to what is allowed. As an example, I would not be allowed to run a 2-Litre engine in my '67GTV, I foung this out when when I had thought about selling my car to a guy in the Seatlle area. While, on the otherhand, here in southern California with VARA and the local Alfa Club, AROSC, the 2-Litre engine is allowed. So the moral of this story is, become familar with the rules of the organization you want to run with before building the car to race.
