Another CA eBay Berlina offering

Anyone familiar with 73 Berlina item 260014207164 in Emeryville? Vin ar3002043 is listed in the Berlina Register apparently. Jeff?

I have seen this car. It's a nice straight car at a fair price. A good "driver" fairly described in the listing. I believe the drivetrain is worth what he is looking to get for the whole car.

I checked it out pretty extensively for a guy, and my opinion is not quite as positive. It is a complete, driveable car, that you could use as a beater/driver. However, these problem areas concerned me:
* The color
* Sags badly in back
* Compression was OK, not great (I have the numbers at home somewhere)
* Oil pressure reading poor (may be indication problem)
* Steering is the heaviest on earth; something's very wrong
* Electrical gremlins, including very bent/about to break turn signal wand
* Lack of care for a very long time
* Rust/poor body issues in a number of places
* Interior pretty sad

Jeff had it for sale locally and was asking in the $2200 range. A lot of people looked at it but no-one jumpt. I thought that price was high, but close to the ballpark. If you wanted to fix this car up to a nice, or even decent, standard, you'd have to do everything, and have far more in it than it was worth. To just buy and drive around, it could be fine, after replacing the steering box. I think in the $1500 range it wouldn't be bad.

Thanks Kjell, and I just found your earlier May for sale thread too. Sounds like he may want more than I could spend on a project so near the same condition as one I am now mucking with. Hope he sells to someone who will keep it out of the parts bins.

Bye the way, Jeff has worked on the steering, it is now much better. Let's face it though any $2000 Alfa will be a long way from perfect. This car is certainly
not worth restoring, but with a little tlc could be something a guy could drive
and have some fun with, then part out down the road.....
My days of messing with any such car are thankfully over!

Looks like I'm out of touch; it's at $2200 all of a sudden.

Andrew...

Thanks for your honest assement. I wish someone was as critical when they looked at the car I bought. I was a 4 cylinder greenhorn and put too much credance in a BBer who looked at the car. I should have taken a closer look at it myself, rather than using a flash light at night

The high bidder has 0 feedback (as does the seller, but I know he's on the up and up). Anyone know if this sale went through? If so, I'm flabbergasted at the price.
