Where were those Carabinieri cars? Are they part of a Carabinieri museum collection, or replicas?

Does anyone know if the 1750/2000 Berlinas were ever used by Carabinieri or Polizia?

Damien

I think they used the Berlina 2000 in the light blue/white livery as a Polizia vehicle. I dont know if Berlinas were used as Carabinieri cars, but I'm sure they got used in some regions in some way between the Super and the Alfetta.

Damo, are you brainstorming by any chance?

Someone told me that the berlina 1750/2000 were used only by the chief of the Italian police, it was kind of luxury Alfa.

Giorgio, thanks for that info.

Ben, thanks too! I've seen plenty of Supers and Alfettas in the blue/white livery (in scale models), but cannot remember seeing a Berlina. As for brainstorming, well perhaps I did have a thought over the weekend on what I might do with the Berlina, hehe. Probably a crazy idea though!?

There was a guy in W.A years ago, who had a Giulia Super track car done up to look like a Carabinieri patrol car - complete with Blue Light! It looked good whilst passing lesser track machines at Waneroo...

They're carabinieri cars. I took the photos at the Carabinieri stand at this year Padova "auto jumble" (I don't know how you guys call it).

Dirk Stoehr in LA has a Super race car dolled up as a Polizia car. Maybe that's the one you mean? Here's a pic of it at Fontana raceway in summer 2002.

Hi JPV,
I was at Padova too, and have almost an identical photo!

What really intrigues me is that in the background of your self portrait, on the video screen, is a film showing the Alfa 2600 Sprint Squadra Pantera pursuit cars.

Had I'd know it I'd been there all day absorbing the details.

Also, the Chicago Region has a Super/TI done up in Polizia letters that has been at Road America in the past.

I saw it. It was fast driving tests done by the police I guess...

I couldn't stay there for long so I didn't watch it completely...

I just bought a '71 Berlina, and am toying with the idea of creating a replica Carabinieri or Polizia car, just for something different.

But if I did it, I'd want it to be a good replica, and pretty accurate. Although therein lies a problem, as I don't imagine it would be an easy thing to research, particularly when I don't speak Italian. And finding original old lights and sirens would be a nightmare.

Plus to get it registered over here in the bubble-wrapped country, I would have to get special approval from the police, and then the motor registry, and even then could only register it for club/historic use, and not daily road use.
