Haig, excellent upholstery work. I love the detailed work Jorge is doing. This Berlina would be one of the nicest ever.
Enjoy!!!

He really gets the "factory look"! Even the GTV seats look exactly like you would expect them to look if Alfa had ever done contrasting piping. Plus, although he didn't use the correct basket weave for the center sections, (AFAIK unobtainable), he chose a nicely evocative perforated look. Heck, to tell the truth, they look like factory if the factory had stepped it up a notch or two. Bellissimo!

Because of the likelyhood of water damage to the hardboard wood in the door panels, I used 1.2mm aluminium as my door panel materlial when I did my 1969 1750 Spider Veloce back in 1998. I plan to do the same should I ever re-do the Berlina's door panels.
The ally works well and is easy to work with and will never have to be replaced...

Reading your post brought to mind Sean Connery "never say never again" The aluminum sounds like a viable option, I've personal experince with corrosion caused through electrolysis between disimilar metals, steel and aluminum coupled with water, in automobile bodies. I trust you have made the necessary provisions. Using the hardboard works fine with well installed plasic door liners, clean door bottom drains, glass to door weatherstrip extruders, etc.

OK......we are now at a point where small details...such as inner door bezel and handles, seat belts,etc...will be carefully replaced...some refurbished...others improvised and put back in form...far from being complete..but getting there...heres a few photos i took this morning.....to be continued.

Looks Good !
You have done a fantastic improvement to your Berlina. This Motivates me to keep working on my 69 Berlina. I think the door seals are next. I have already purchased them but had to stop on my long time project.
Thanks,
Alvis III

Looks Good !
I had my guy keep the original look when I got my seats redone.
Enclosed are some pictures.
My next project is the door seals. I purchased from re-originals. Glad someone had a thread on that.

your door seals don't look too bad. Take them off, put them in a pillow sheet, was at low temperature with lots of fabric softener in it. The wind seals in the doors: remove, warm up with your wifes hair dryer, and scrape the paint off with a little scalpel or a break-off knife edge.
Haig, can your upholsterer also remake the chrome trim on the bottom of the door panels? That would really finish it off!

Merry Christmas to all ......Alvis...good of you to follow up....on your project...once you tackle the door seals...its difficult to stop....all the best...
Seinista ....i took one of those rubber trims out and tried to sand it down ...then i applied a generous coat of Aluminum coat...silverish...but didnt hold too well..have to do it in a very dry and warm atmosphere....thats the kind of detail that i will end up tackling myself...otherwise....little things like that will take a lot of time ..sometimes but thats what it takes to do a perfect job...all the best ..Haig.

Happy New Year
Seinista: The door seals I need to replace are the ones on the doors. I looked back on my pictures. The seals on the body are pretty good shape. I replaced the seal around the moving windows on the outside and need to also replace the interior. The door seal looks like it will be fun and alot of time.
Haig: I saw in a earlier picture a crack in your dash. What did you do with it. I have a crack also in my dash. I also like the black valve cam cover. What did you use to paint it.
I really enjoy the Berlina. It is just a long term restore. I started August 1979.
It is still fun to drive with the many things to do to it.
