For sale: 1972 Giulia 1300 Super
I imported this car in May, and have enjoyed it now for about a 1000km with no problems. I am seeking to sell it to enable the purchase of a 1600 that I have located.
Price is $12,900 after the Limerock concourse on Labor day. If anyone is interested - car now has a Massachusetts title and is located in central Mass. This is not a money making venture and I am seeking to recoup purchase price, shipping and import duties etc. Happy to document those costs for anyone who may be interested. If you want it before Labor Day, the price is $14,000 to assuage my sorrow for parting with it sooner.
Please see my thread "'72 Giulia Super on the way" for pictures. Car to be sold with new shift boot installed, and NOS grille replaced on left side (currently has a cosmetic flaw on the left side). I'm happy to take as many additional pictures as anyone would like.

That price looks like a smokin' good deal for someone. Unfortunitally I have too many vehicles and too little time to drive them but when I do get behind the wheel of any of them, it's a treat

Hi Skip,
I was surprised that you didn't get any bids (I was one of those danged non-bidding watchers). Maybe it's because you tipped your hand when you referenced this thread and none of the potential bidders was willing to go up to 14K. Could just be the economy this week. Also, 8K is a pretty high starting bid for a reserve auction. Since you have a reserve anyway you might start the bidding lower to generate some action if you relist it.
Personally, I think you've got a great car. It's already over here, it's in great shape, known history... enjoy driving it and forget about shipping the 1600. You've got a hydraulic clutch so you can easily put in a 1750 or 2L if you want to at a later date. Whatever you decide it sure is a nice car!
Oh, from what I understand, 2 Supers and a Fiat500 will fit in one shipping container. Might make it more economical if you decide to ship in another.

Quick question, what is that material that covers the drive shaft tunnel? Nice Super!

Bill S. - you're reading my mind. It doesn't have to go a new home, but I found an even nicer one and can't resist at least testing the waters to try to move up. As original as this one is, it wouldn't really bother me to go up to a 2.0, lower it a bit and enjoy it even more. The more I drive it the more I want to drive it. I'm not in the Alfa business and I don't believe in owning museum pieces - I like to drive.
Velocedoc - the transmisssion bell housing and driveshaft tunnel material is a vinyl, fairly supple, can't honestly tell you if its original or not but I'd speculate its been restored, along with the floor mats, and I'd bet the seats too. The interior overall is really nice. Thanks for your kind words.

On the tunnel/flooring material, this is the same original material that I have on my 73 1300 I brought back a few years ago. I know mine is the original material and pattern. It is very durable! And when I purchased my car, floors were covered with a carpet set which did not remain due to the nice surprise underneath.

It's beyond me sometimes how prices on ebay work. From the apparent condition, seller's reputation and candor, and reasonably convenient location, I would have expected this to sell easily after the several $20,000 cars.
On the other hand, I'm flabbergasted that the Volvo-gold Berlina here in Emeryville went for $3,350. If all these sales were consummated, I don't know why this car didn't go. It's funny; I find auctions very hard to parse.

Andrew, don't try to parse this. I sell rare books for a living here in New Orleans. I was at an auction that was packed, lots of energy in the room, middle of winter. A book comes up, I think it was an early set of Orleans Territory laws. Lots of bidding, very brisk, and the thing is sold for maybe 6K. I go to the underbidder, I say, 'I have the same book, in better condition, for $4,500.' Can you guess what his answer was?

72 super for sale
Skip, nice looking Super. I have been watching it on your Ebay listing....with all the positive comments here on the board, cant believe that there isn't more interest in your car. Looks like one of the nicer ones around.

SOLD: 1972 Giulia 1300 Super
Thanks all for your kind words and interest. The car has sold to a good home and will be in the good company of a small herd of other Alfas. Now I move on to my next one to fill the void.
