Hey ,very nice Guilia Ti and super but this thread is about dream Berlina's , I'm making a little progress with mine, it won't be the dream car but should drive like one with a few of the dream touches.
I got the car with a roll cage and fibreglass bonnet and bootlids, I have replaced the old race seats with newer ones -- cheap and comfortable but if I was doing a complete build I would search harder and find more period seats, brake and clutch resevoirs make the under bonnet a bit neater in RHD.

I think in Alfa generic naming law you are quite correct there Hans-Peter.

However, as Andrew et al would be all too well aware, and might point out while the Giulia Ti/Super is as such a different model from what we all refer to as Berlinas (ie.1750/2000 sedans in the 105 series), the name berlina simply means sedan and so hence Alfas of past also included the 2600 berlina, the Giulietta berlina. As based on John Tipler's book, the more recent sedans (ie. Alfetta, Giulietta, Sud, 75, 164, 155, 156, 147, 166, 159) also could be called berlinas, though I suspect perhaps outside of Italy this is probably unlikely to happen.

Look forward to seeing more progress on your ultimate 1750 Berlina . Dave

Improved graphite gray TI makes Alleggerita grin

It's nice to see a GENUINE TI that looks and drives more like a TI SUPER than all of the PHONEY imitations, with fake badging, that some Giulia owners try to fool the public with. Look at the grin on Alleggerita's face in the graphite grey TI. Andrew's Super or Stephan's Berlina would more than fulfill my idea of the ultimate berlina as long as it would run reliably for HOURS at FULL THROTTLE on the Autobahnen or the Nuerburgring;that would put a grin on my face too.

the dream gets a little bit closer!

Well after nearly 3 years since I bought the 1750, it finally left on Saturday for the panel beater.

I'll resurrect the thread I started ages ago about the restoration because there's finally some progress with the resto!

Hi Damo,
Good to hear of progress with your ultimate berlina. It will be an exciting day, the day you fetch it from the paint shop. I remember picking up my 82 GTV from Rugolo after a bare metal paint job back in 93.

Its interesting to note that the ultimate berlina for most respondents to this thread is a fairly modified race or track car with lower stiffer suspension and a much more powerful engine. Allowing Hyde to dominate Jeckyl so to speak.

One of the qualities that I would wish to retain with my ultimate is the lovely 'elastic' quality, the feeling that it sort of winds up slightly in corners and is then propelled out of them like a slingshot. Another is the nicely damped drivetrain and the feeling of refinement just managing to keep on top of the sportscar within.

Anyway each to their own and lets hear about some more

cheers

Tony

Tony, sadly I never drove mine before it was stripped as it was unregistered when I got it. So I've never driven a well sorted stock Berlina. I hope when mine is finished it hasn't lost all the characteristics of the Berlina.

I think the race car theme is one of expendiency rather than ultimate vison, on my car I have been considering cutting the cage out and putting standard seats etc in, however then everything would need to be finished to a much higher standard -- a scruffy but nice driving race car is fine and attainable for me -- my ultimate non attainable Berlina would be a mint standard car with custom upholstery in leather, sunroof, slightly lowered with dropped spindles, suspension rebuilt and uprated ( but not super stiff ) with high quality parts, standard but carefully balanced engine with lightened flywheel ( got this ) period alloys 14x6, extra sound proofing, quality carpets etc. Maybe one day if a really good car comes my way ----

it is not THE ULTIMATE berlina, but it is not so far away... some fibreglass bodyparts, plastic windows and a full cage will come at the time!

Hi Stephan,
I really like the colour of your berlina. Is it an original AR colour or something different. I think berlinas look particularly classy in metallics. Also what are the wheels. They look neat
cheers

This Berlina was rebuilt here in Portugal to fast road and Track Day Spec.

The 2 liter engine has 170hp and a Gripper LSD. It has Alfaholics suspension kit and Bilstein all round.
Inside the interior is still there except for the drivers seat. The rollbar will allow the rear ocupants to enter through the rear doors.

It's really quick and civilised for road car standards...

I guess this is one of the Ultimate Berlinas.

Regards!

That is one really sweet looking 2L Berlina. Nice colour, love the slightly lowered stance and without bumpers it looks so purposeful.

I knew I was onto something all those years ago when I started trying to build my own 2L Berlina up. It was a pity I could never finish the project. So it is good to see some others have done this really well.

It's not mine. It was built in a friends shop for a costumer who uses it at Track Days and some historic events...

This is the shop: http://www.trsport.pt/

I wish I had one Berlina ou any other 105 in that spec!!

jpv - do you know (or would you be able to find out) which of the Alfaholics kits it has in it? They do 3 different ride heights, kit A, B and C. I'd love to know as I've bought Kit A for my project Berlina, and I'm hoping it will have a similar stance to that car.

I've also bought Alfaholics GTA 15" wheels for mine, and that car is the first Berlina I've seen with GTA wheels, they look great on it!

I don't know.

But I guess the front has an adjustable height spring pan like this one.

It is cutted to the desired height adjustement and bolted to the original spring pan.

At the rear it uses the Alfaholics Track springs (kit A I guess...).

Regards!

Hey jpv,
Very nice looking berlina. I also like the wheels and the colour. It looks like the colour of the period police giulia supers in Italy. Do you know if it is a AR colour? If it is as sorted as it looks then it must be a hoot to drive. Do you get to drive it too?
I would love to see it with the bumpers reinstated and all the decals reomved - just for sunday though.
cheers
Tony
