Giulia Nuova Super 1300 Maintenance items
I'm trying to find reference/part numbers for the fan belt and oil filter in my Euro-spec 1976 Nuova 1300.
The belt and filter in the car now are Alfa parts with Alfa numbers. I'm looking for cross-references that my local parts shop will stock.
Thanks.

If it has a spin-on filter as I've seen on late 1300s the ones CL and IAP stock will fit. Offhand don't know what the Kragen, O'Reilly's, or Autozone ref would be. On the fan belt, I'd just take it in and match it up.

Thanks, Andrew.
Its got a spin-on filter, and I hoped to be able to buy it locally to avoid shipping on a small ticket item.
The belt is on the car, and I prefer to follow the "if it isn't broken, don't mess with it" approach.
Anyone else happen to know the parts reference numbers on these?
Thanks.

dmericas, I have the Giulia Nuova Super 1300/1600 parts book for 1974 if you need any numbers. Just ask.

Tony --
Thanks for the offer. Does the parts book show the specs on the fan belt and something other than the AR part number for the spin-on oil filter (e.g., a FRAM, AC, Purolator, or other manufacturer part number)? If so, that's what I'm looking for.

Oil filter is identical to 2000. Fram PH7 or PH43 or equivalent ... PH43 is smaller ... some others may fit too. For fan belt measure up a length of string in mm and go to your supplier - hopefully they are willing to look for belt by size not only application as some do - likely longer than 2000 as crank pulley is smaller.

That's exactly what I was looking for on the oil filter.
I've seen a reference to an AVX 10x735 fan belt. If I do the string thing I'll post the size specs so others will have the info in the future.
Odd that someone hasn't created a table of after market parts references for routine tune-up and maintenance items: plugs, filters, belts, etc.

Dean, if you need more information about your car call Dean Russell at Trail auto in Dearborn, MI. He will tell you or find you the belt you need contact 1-800-445-ALFA.

Dean, the best thing to do is to simply take the existing fan belt off, take it to a parts house, and have them match it. It isn't hard to take the alternator loose so you can get the belt off and, once off, you can get a perfect match.

Great background info. I'll check, but I'm guessing that the guy down at NAPA is not going to have these numbers in any of his parts books.
I tried a Google search on all of these to find cross-references, and came up with nothing, so the search continues.

I know you don't want to pull the old belt off, but honestly, the advice that Andrew is offering is the best way to go.
Here's what always happens to me when I try to cut corners: I'll but the fanbelt that NAPA, Autozone, ... says will fit, throw it in the trunk for emergency use, the old belt finally fails, and guess what? the new one is too long/short. Of course by now, I've lost the receipt, it's past the return period, yadda yadda.
I have learned to always always bring the old part in when buying a replacement (unless it's something trivial like sparkplugs or antifreeze!).
My advice is to pull your old belt, match it up at your local NAPA store, install the new one, and throw the old in the trunk as the spare.

I hear you, and agree. I'm being a little grumpy because it seems like it would be so easy to have a compendium of standard service part references. Once I track these down, I'll try to post the info back to the BB for future reference.

I use a Napa 1191 oil filter on my 1750. You might start there.

By now you could have gotten your filters in the mail from IAP, CL, or Jon Norman <smiley>. Whenever I place a mail order, I include a couple filters so I always have them in stock. I go through a lot of filters. My preference is the Baldwin that CL sell; the huge ones IAP has are too big for any of the filter wrenches I own. And the tiny Alfa OEM ones Jon has are too small. To each his/her own though. But at least you know they're the right filters.
