Hey Andrew,

Just received this month's Hot Rod and saw your letter to the editor and Alfa/Impala photo. Very cool. Three cheers for automotive diversity.

I heard from my brother that it's out; I haven't got my copy yet but will look for it.

Could you guys scan and post? Or, is that copyright infringement?

It's infringement but that never stopped anyone. Here's the picture I sent them.
I took this picture for the specific purpose of writing the letter I did (which I hadn't written at that point but had the thought in my head), and sending it to Hot Rod.

I have a couple interested parties on the 1300 TI but no one's bought it yet. Be famous! Buy this car, "featured" in the Hot Rod letters column! Help me fund my race car purchase, committed to but awaiting money and space from this sale to pick up!
Andrew!

WOW ,You have a CUNEO registered Giulia from Cuneo, Italy. Reminds me of my CUNEO registered Fiat 124 Special T,way back in 1977,when I lived there, well not in Cuneo ,but Fossano, which is part of the Cuneo area, You have a very original Giulia 1600 S. Cool

Thanks, but don't get too hung up on the CU plates...
bought those on ebay.it as the original FI ones had to be surrendered when the car left Italy.
Hope to have some repros done with the right numbers.

I am sorry about the comment I made about the Cuneo licence plates. It's just that a wave of nostalgia came over me when I saw the plates on your car. The car was registered in FIRENZE,and the original owner lived in PRATo,which is about 80KM,north-west of FIRENZE. Looking at your receipt,it was from a driving school in PRATO. Cheers I hope you love your 1600 S,as much as I love my 1970 Giulia Super.

Wink

Grandsblek, no need to be sorry. I just wanted to clarify things.
And thank you for the info about the cars origin! Your knowledge of Italy is excellent!

I hope to go to Prato on our next trip to Italy and see if I can locate the original owner. Want to let him know that his baby is in good hands.
This should be him...

I sold this car just over a week ago. The buyer, who had previously owned it, drove it from Berkeley to Holland, Mich., but way of Phoenix, Ariz., in seven days, stopping off in Chicago. That's roughly 2700 miles. He didn't have a single problem. Amazing car.

True.

But still, that's what they were made for. Due to many things I am now driving my 2000 Berlina about 1000 km every week. Doesn't miss a beat, it's freezing right now, two blips on the throttle, no choke and it starts right away.
I replaced the 10/43 diff with a 10/41 from a 2000 GTV so I am running a little less revs at 120 Kph, have 185/65/15 wheels so its'noticably more relaxed at highway speeds. They were excellent cars back in the day, and a good one still is.
I just check oil and coolant, and hey, let's ride!
Did you get any comments from the Hot Rod community about the Giulia? What did you write them?
Or is it on the Berlina Newsletter? I should really write something for that again, I believe it's a little dormant right now.
Best,
Rik

HotRod magazine's editor made a snarky, but fair, response that why didn't I buy the Impala. A fair point. But in the middle of a cross-country trip in a bought car I didn't need another one. I got a lot of comments from folks who saw the letter and picture. Rare, I'd say, to see an Alfa in HotRod.

No, Berlina Register is not dormant. I have not updated its website lately because I lost the access codes. I've been maintaining all the Register lists (Berlina, US Giulia sedan, Giulietta sedan) on Patrick Hung's google lists. So look there for updates. The Register still puts out two newsletters a year, and runs two tours a year in the Bay Area. If I don't have your current email address then you haven't been getting them.

Any way you can show us the Article? Don't read Hot Rod much anymore.
