Mmm nice, definitely a well built car. I would love to see some footage of that going around the track. Might be nice to see it lined up next to the real deal. RichardS are you still bringing it over for the 100 year celebrations at Phillip Island?

My dream is still to drive mine down after it comes out of the shop.

Yes Jim, where did you get the wheels and what are your engine specs?

Ahah, that is a leading question ---- what are the dates? It might need a little set-up fettling but otherwise.... it now has it`s original engine installed....

Thats fantastic that you reunited the engine with the car! Pretty sure the celebrations are in March (easter?) next year. It will be huge with alfas from Oz and NZ racing and apparently some coming from Europe I think I read somewhere. I think some fantastic cars will be showing up. Yours would be the cherry on the cake for me!
It sounds like Jim's car will be in its element too over that weekend!

I have to disagree with you as it is about the dash, wheels, badges and the amount of work that has gone into making it as close as possible to an original as possible. I am aware of Geoff's vehicle and yes I have a very similar spec as his, however mines on the road!

Hi Jim, I am sorry if you thought I was having s go at you or what you have achieved for that was not intended, and yes I do understand that it is your interpretation of a TI Super replica, not an original one. I also understand how difficult it is to create such a car, especially when there are no TI Supers to compare with in Australia.

What I was trying to impart to you was that Rik (aka Berlinista) knows the TI Super pretty well given his involvement in the restoration of real ones, and so hence the comments he made in context of your car.

I totally agree with all the other comments made that you certainly have done really well in restoring your car and I too commend you for that. My project (making a '67 replica out of a '69 Giulia Super), still has a long way to go before its finished so I do understand the commitment, $$ and energy it takes to finish a project. I have also been there before.

I am also well aware of where Geoff's car is at, given he has it up for sale unfinished. What I actually though was interested in and thought others might be as well was the engineering changes made to your car, engine, gearbox, suspension etc.

I am sure you will have a lot of fun with your TI on the track and it would be great to see it in action sometime. Dave

Hi Jim,

I would just like to say that I think it is an impressive looking car - would love to see it in real life. Congratulations on your efforts. I too am interested in the source and cost of your wheels.

Ciao 4 now,
Bill.

Thanks Dave, I appreciate it.
The Specs are currently: Full pace race suspension, Bilstein shocks rebuilt with my specs for the revalving, Body strengthening including Vins' kit and my own on both front and rear, as Barry told me that he almost tore the shock top mount out of his car using Bilsteins,The bottom end of the motor has been balanced, however I kept the original rods, Hi comp pistons (standard not forged), 46mm inlet valves, ported head, Buggered if I can remember what the exhausts are, Vins' 4 X 2 X 1 extractors that have had ceramic coating in and out, relativly hot cams, 45 Webers, Up turned trumpets (i will be putting extensions on very soon), Don't have the 'box sorted yet, however I will be fitting a close ratio box (not sure which ratios yet), a 4.3 LSD 75% locked re built by Vin, I also have a 5.13, Which I will use at the appropriate tracks, The wheels came from Stuckies here - Speak to Russell if you have enquiries I believe he can order them, 75 front rotors & calipers, brake pad to die for - speak to Race Brakes, used a 75 wiper motor ( I have two speeds now), Fully re wired myself & brought the fusebox inside, two electric pumps & a swirl pot, plastic rear window rear doors & 1/4 vents AND a 1m46sec @ Winton out of the box with a sub 40 the aim. I'm exhausted now.
Geoff
Do you still have the 101??? I am looking forward to seeing both cars at the Melb. GP, would like to get a spot in the parade and a possy in the pits, wouldn't it be a wonderful sight the real Bussilino car with two replicas!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Tenster, The guages I have used are 2600, the closest I could get to the originals, however i am pretty sure there was an after market dash offered by Veglia which has the dash set up as mine is - with the indicators separate from the guages, I have attached a copy of the brochure (thanks Barry) is it 58,000lira approix $1.25 (just kidding). I believe the correct gauges come from a 101???
Thank you all for your kind expressions of support, I really am proud of the achievement and Hugh, Monza Motors, even said he was suprised at how well it was screwed together. Such accolades.
Thanks Geoff for the early photos. Give me a pm regarding the tank
Regards
Jim

Thanks Jim. Really appreciate the incite into what has gone into the development of your car. Damned impressive. I must admit to feeling envious as to the level of mechanical improvements achieved through Vin at Pace. I know that Geoff has been down a similar path. Ditto great to see the before photos as it helps encourage those of us with projects as to what can be achieved. Dave

Hi Jim

Thanks for that copious explanation of the work done - easy to say but my goodness what a lot of research before the work! Who/where is `Stuckies`? Are they mag or ally and size, please?

Kind words about sharing the spot with the original but I suspect you will put mine to shame, AutoDelta never prepared to your standard and 45 years have taken their toll - but I am doing a gentle renovation whilst retaining it`s patina. No easy task since it`s difficult to know where to stop.

Hopefully we will meet.

Richard

The wheels seem to be the infamous Hein Brand wheels. They are the easiest TZ copy wheel to get at.
Hein himself is on this board.

HEINBRAND AUTOMOTIVE

Here above is the link to the wheels on his site.

Yes the instruments on a TI Super are 101 series. I recall they are the same as in a Giulia SS. Happy hunting then....
Check out the two threads I mentioned. I really really DO like the car, but it is really more a Squadra Bianca race car than anything resembling a TI Super.
Check out THIS thread on the dutch Forum:

AlfaSpeed • Toon onderwerp - Squadra Bianca

I did this as a mechanic and driver for almost 12 years.

For anyone interested in the all-Alfa race weekend at Phillip Island next year the date will be either March 13/14 or March 20/21. Organising committee is still trying to get date confirmed but circumstances out of their control at this time. The line-up of cars is beyond belief and is shaping up as the best collection of Alfas of all eras to ever to get together in Australia. Once the date is confirmed details of race program will be distributed.
Richard S, could you contact me direct at giulia105@optusnet.com.au

Thanks Berlinesta. They are eteeeemly radical. Mine however is road registered and will have a full interior shortly. I have tried to remain faithful to the parts book as far as practicable regarding the trim, dash and exterior are concerned. I am yet to see a TI Super replica exact in all areas, perhaps you may have some photos, and who knows, This may be the next project? I have noticed that just about all the "Reps" I have seen are used in racing to some extent. I have looked at the threads that you have mentioned and there is a lot of good helpful info, which I applaud and it's a great thing that the sum of us is willing to share experiences, knowledge & encouragement.
Jim

Hi Richard,
Stuckies are the Dunlop Race dealer in Melbourne. I believe the wheels are alloy but not that light, they could be Heinbrand??? they are 5 1/2 X 15 which I believe is the correct size. I really hope you can get here for Phillip Island and share the car, for a little while at least, with us. Having the motor reunited with the car is marvelous.
Jim

Well, the key indications are good, ie the wife is happy to visit Oz and well it sounds like a good idea, what else to say....but please no comparisons a modern resto/rebuild will beat the pants of a 45 year old warhorse even with a new engine!
