Giorgio:

Tell us more about making those rockers. Is it a constant cross-section? Did your shop use a template and if so, could you share it with your BB brethren?

Great job, by the way. I'm in the same boat with my '71. I just found a couple of rear doors from AZ that will help a ton as right now I'm peeling back about an inch of bondo.

Why I wonder as these panels so hard to find? They made plenty of Berlinas over the years - at least for the Euro market. I would think a fair number have had regular use and thus a market for the parts. Obviously I am mistaken...

Rich,
Looks like we're all in the same boat with Berlina body panels. I had read in previous posts that Wolf steel has created Berlina panels for Alfa BB members--http://www.alfaparts.net/index.html. I have not had much luck in reaching them via phone or email. But I just left a VM again today.

I was planning on using my rusty Berlina's as a daily driver, so it doesn't have to be perfect. It runs well. I may end up working with a local metal fabricator here in KC to create external rockers using my "good" Berlina as a template for measurements. I plan to weld in metal myself in the unseen areas, like the floorboards, now that I have searched/destroyed much of the rust.

Were there any other parts from the car in AZ where you found the doors?

Thanks & good luck,
Richard M.

Rich the body shop only made one side of the panel, unfortunately there is no template for it. First we thought we had both side correct panel but turned out to be only one side, so he end up making one because he had no choice and wasn't happy about it.

RMan:

Not sure where the doors are from - a friend picked them up. I was just happy to get them.

I have talked to Allen a couple of times. Bill S. from the BB had sent him a rusty rocker as a template a while back but Allen can't find it. It's been two month now so not looking good ...

I guess the best solution is to use Super rockers and add two inches...

Panels

I'm sure I mentioned this in another thread on here but for those that may find it useful take a look at these guys for Berlina panels.
If the links work one should be direct to the Berlina parts available thru this website (in German), the second should be a translation of the same thru the Bablefish website.

Häckner Shop - G.Häckner GmbH Ersatzteile für Alfa Romeo

Translation result for http://www.haeckner-shop.com/shop/berlina.htm

Some of the items have no price, I guess because of limited or no availability, but I wonder if enough people are interested if they could get more stock made.

Hope this helps someone/anyone doing a Berlina project.

Außenschwellerreparaturblech = Outer rockers?
Mittelschweller = mid rockers?
Innenschweller = inner rockers?

Thanks Ian, I'll chase this down.

Their response to my inquiring about rocker availability:

"Hello,
does wrong to us, but this article is not available any longer."

I think that means that they are NLA...

Sorry for the hijack, Giorgio...

I am pretty sure I know where those doors came from since I think I found them on behalf of a friend of mine who was looking for them for gprocket (how confusing is that?). Call Charlie Fife at Auto International in Phoenix at 602-997-6792. I am pretty sure he has another set of decent Berlina doors that he might be convinced to part with.

Little update on the Berlina. Floor pieces almost done and they have been working on the rear quarter panels.

Some nice metalwork going on there, liking the detail in the 4th pic down keeping the correct shape and hole in the floor repair.
Like GPRocket said, i'm sorry for the previous highjack too. Just thought the link to that german site may be of use to yourself and all looking in on your Berlina project for any other parts they may have, as every bit of contact info helps in keeping these cars on the road.
Would just like to say, i've travelled to work in mine every day this week, it seems to work better just for being used every day. Got some looks and nice compliments too.
