License Plate Frog-Eye Light Assembly

I posted under the Parts Wanted section a while back with no luck so I thought I'd try the Sedan forum--I'm trying to locate a rear license plate light assembly for my '66 Super. I inadvertently left this at the body shop and they have since moved. Mine had the "frog-eye" type of lights.

I think Centerline sells these but they are a bit pricey--was hoping that someone may have an old set sitting on a shelf somewhere. Condition not terribly important.

Also, I have the parts manual, but am hoping someone can post a photo of the assembly as installed.

Thanks.

Frank, if you can be a bit patient I'm pretty sure I have a spare set ... somewhere. It'll be difficult to tell what is and isn't extra until I get the basket case more or less reassembled, which should happen over the next couple of months.

Best,
Jason

Thanks Jason. I've been looking for a while--let me know if you come up with anything as you clear out parts. BTW, how's your project coming along--did you post any updated picutres?

There's definitely progress. I finished the SEM headliner respray (looks pretty good) and the complete brake re-do. I have brakes! The BWAs look like they'll fit fine with the smaller tires I'm using.

This weekend I'm going to finish buttoning up my used 2L, as well as re-assemble some other bits like the driveshaft. I've even come up with a way to mount an A/C compressor and not have it look hideous (I hope). Yes, I'm a wimp, but the goal with this car is to make it as usable a driver as possible. Will take some pics of the A/C bracket setup and post them this weekend. Next week I'll be taking some time off and hopefully getting it to the point that I can fire it up. Wish me luck!

Does anyone have (and can you post) a picture of the license plate lights assembly as mounted on the Super? I am making progress toward getting the pieces found (thanks Ebay and Jason), cleaned, painted, and assembled.

It looks fairly ovious how it should be attached, but thought I'd check and see if someone has a photo. Also, any special spacers, mounting hardware, etc. required?

Thanks.

Frank

Being in Australia I am a bit far away but I too am sure that I have these number plate lights bits you need. These are the opaque dome shape glass lights with the chrome covers which have narrow gap to direct light etc and are held in place with a couple of small screws etc.

If these are not available elsewhere let me know.

Pics of items would be handy. Might also be worthwhile to help others identify items known by another name elsewhere.

Frank,

The stock location for the license plate lights was in the bumper. However, if you remove the bumper, you can use a GTA style box for the lights, or you can replace the license plate bolts with LED light studs, which is what I did. Anyway, look through the Giulia Sedan Picture thread and you'll see all the picture you would ever hope to see.

Actually the earlier Supers didn't mount the license lights in the rear bumper, they are on a small stamped plate that Frank now has.

Sorry for the horrible pic - the flash on our digicam seems to have crapped out. I'll be driving the car as much as I can this week to shake out some of the bugs, so maybe I'll swing by and you can take a look in person.

Jason, thanks for the photo. That's pretty much how I thought they'd go in, but wanted to check. This would have been a good thing to do before I put the new bumper on

Between your parts and some ebay items, I have all the items except for some mounting hardware. Whatever I have left over I'll post a picture--these things are expensive new and hard to find old stuff.

I just went to Lowe's for the hardware. I think the ones holding the lights together were M4 slotted screws, and I used M5 bolts to attach to the panel.

Were there two styles of the "frog eye" lights? One had the narrow slot like on the 101 cars and didn't the later ones have a wider opening.

In a batch of frog-eye lights parts that I bought off Ebay, one of the covers has a slot about 2 times the diameter of the opening in the Alfa covers. There is no P/N on it--not sure what vehicle that fit.

Can you take a picture and post it?

Here is the picture--the cover on the left is the one with the larger opening. Although someone did a bit of custom cutting on this, the larger opening looks to be "stock". This was with a batch of items I received--may have been for another vehicle (non-Alfa).
