1972 Berlina speedometer cable replacement

Hey All,

I'm trying to replace the speedometer cable on my '72 Berlina, and having a bear of a time. I can't reach the back of the speedometer to undo the cable. I have another gauge panel on my shelf, and it has two tabs on the bottom, they look like they hold the gauge panel in place.

I've tried using a screwdriver and putty knife to access those tabs on the gauge panel that's in the car, but I can't get the panel to pop loose.

What's the trick? Is there a way to get those tabs to move from the front, do I need to access them from the rear, or?

Looking at the part that's on my shelf, if I can get those tabs to pop, the panel should come out through the front, and I can access the speedo cable that way.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

bs

The two spring clips you get at through the slots cast in below the instrument binnacle. Insert screwdrivers, push up on springs, binnacle hinges from the top. See pic.

So simple, never even noticed there were holes there!

Thanks so much Andrew!
