Verde Muschio Rules!

Here is a picture of my '67 Super that I've owned for the past 15 years. I'm the 2nd owner. Currently with a 2 litre and 4:10 diff. I was leading the Mt Hood tour at the AROC Nat'l convention here in Portland and was in good company! Photo courtesy of Joe Cantrell and was on the back cover of our Alfa-Bits magazine recently.

Wow, that's the nicest Berlina I've seen in ages. Great wheels, and I love the stance, it's exactly what I want to achieve with my 1750 project. Could you tell me about the suspension set up please.

Thanks

I've used bilstein dampers on the front and rear and Eibach springs for a junior/spider. The "bomb" in the boot also helps to lower the rear

A beautiful example. Congratulations! IMO 1750 Berlina's look much "cleaner" than the 2.0 litre. Impressive wheels, what are they?? Again - another Alfa saved!!!!!!!

Nice looking car, it is very strange that a Berlina with the right stance will look good on just about any wheels,OTOH the coupe only suits a few wheel styles, just my opinion of course but I have a coupe and a Berlina and a pile of alloy wheels.

Australian berlina

Hi there all you berlina fanciers here is my 1970 1750 berlina from Melbourne Australia.
I bought this car about 3 months ago as after selling my DS23 citroens a couple of years ago I missed having an old car around. I used to own a white 2000 berlina in Tasmania in the late 80's and sold it to a guy from Launceston I believe. Anyway I have fond memories of that car as it was probably the nicest italian car I have had (fiat 125, 124 sport, 850 sport, Giulia super [pale blue, nice but tired - sold in bits in Hobart 1992 and now white I believe] 125special & alfetta GTV. The berlina was gutsy handled nicely and got to love the styling and interior.
So I got nostalgic and started looking around - not much - a tired 1750 (the one I bought) and a couple of 2000 litre automatics, which as the gearbox is part of the 105 alfa's attractions, are not for me. So I paid too much for this one - $3500 and then spent $2200 on suspension bushes and bits, windscreen and a few others bits and pieces, and a $1500 respray with a bit of rust repair, all for a RWC so I could transfer the registration into my name.
It drives OK though it feels a bit rattly and the engine is down on compression on one cylinder - a burnt exhaust valve.
But I love it, it has that sling shot feeling of my old white 2000, and a nice gearbox.
The car was in its original colour a battleship grey before I had it painted. However the PO gave me a pot of paint which he said was the original colour and I foolishly didn't check it so now have a different colour. It's called 'AR misty grey' and is a blueish grey, rather pretty but I would have prefered the original. The interior is red and is in pretty good nick with a bit of bleaching to the tops of the seat backs and only one crease on the drivers seat. The carpets are a bit sad. Got to love that thin rimmed steering wheel - I will give it good polish. The dash top has only a few small cracks as it was wearing a toupe.
The car came with a remarkable log book detailing what looks like every cent spent on the car by its main owner from 1974 untill it was taken off the road in the early nineties. There is an entry for a set of continental tires from 1987which it still wears and have heaps of tread left so I imagine the milage of 94,000 is true. The guy I bought it from had pulled it out of a shed and cleaned it up. (he paid $1000, why can't I find shed cars). It has apparently never been out of rego.
I will gradually do it up and am thinking of buying a 2000 for the engine and diff and any other parts that are better than mine. My exhaust system is rusty, my brakes are sticky and the alternator seems not to be charging the battery.
I think I will stick with the original wheels as I think they look really nice with the 1750 style hubcaps. As a younger man I thought they looked way too drab particularly on the GTV's but I like them now.
As to the colour I will stick with the misty grey and maybe one day restore the body properly and paint it the original grey or maybe medium grey metallic which I saw on a GT on the alfaholics website which looked very nice.
Anyway I will attach few pics.
Let me know what you think
Tony
