Super Duper Race Car Long-Term Project

I will be attempting to restore my newly purchased 1965 Alfa Romeo Super. I am going to have fun with this project and hopefully learn a lot along the way. I will be a lot slower than most as I am getting older and I'm not getting any wiser.

My goal is to have a race car that I can enjoy into my retirement (about 13yrs away).

I have already read many restoration threads and am planning each stage off of what I have learned. I will also be taking some welding and bodywork classes.

I will be using this BB as a sounding board and let everyone tell me what an idiot I am (tell me something I don't know).

Anyway, time for some before pics. Don't be too brutal. I want it to be a project car (this stuff is fun for me).

Good stuff! Looks like a good project. Sell the wires to fund some of it!

Love those wire wheels, but you might want to swap them out before you go on the track.
You have a chassis number? I keep a register of US Giulias.
I've got a 71 Super track car, love it.

Wire Wheels

Yes, the wire wheels are definitely being removed and sold.

I am just finishing up stripping the car down to the bare body.

Car Ownership

I do not know the history of this car prior to my purchasing the car, but the car was white (though originally blue) and had a blue interior. I bought it from the Kirzinger family.

Any history you have on the car would be appreciated.

Thanks!

All I show is Tad Bailey in AL owned it at some point. He monitors the yahoo Giulia/Berlina list, which you might join if you haven't.
Does it have any interior? If so, can you tell the color?
Dunlop brakes presumably?

Interior Color

The interior that came with the car was a light blue velvet like custom interior. I will post some of the other pics here soon.

I will check the brakes here soon as I am currently in the process of stripping the car to the bare body for some rust repair and eventual blasting & priming.

Project Update

I have made some progress on the project car. The car is now stripped down to the bare body. More pics of that and the body work to come over the winter.

You may have noticed that the car did not have an engine. Minor detail.

Well, that is now resolved. I picked a parts car from Alfarm over the weekend that has all the remaining bits I need. Now I will strip all of the parts off of this one over the next couple of weeks and send the body to the crusher. Sad end to this guy, but the underside of this car is rusted out completely. Not even LeMons worthy.

More Pics of the Sad Red Car

Another pic at the Alfarm and at my house.

For whatever reason, my wife was not pleased.

Tell her it's "yard art", and you plan to put an old refrigerator and lawn mower next to it to create a "tableau".
