Those slots upper end of A-pillar trim are filled with body paste from factory, to me shape is not far away from original. Anyway better to check what there is under the trims as Migu wrote.

Yes easily, you only need drill off three rivets and they almost drop you hands

Thanks for the tip Gasolina. So just the rivets and it'll come out? I'm away from car now but I thought the piece seemed to be seam welded along the inner windshield surface in addition to rivets.

I pulled this gunk out of one side. I almost left the channels as-is for my body guy to deal with but in my experience it is always a good idea to do as much as possible as far as stripping, prepping, etc before sending any car or bike to paint. The body shop will always cut corners and nobody will give it the attention it deserves. I'm not a body guy by far but I am going to attempt to do as much repair as possible before sending car to paint.

No problem. Just the rivets off, it seems to be seam welded, but seam that you see there is between roof panel and A-pillar.

So I have this area pretty much cleaned up and bondo free at the moment. I am going to now rebuild the area with either body filler or some type of product to get the original shape back.

If you are having the whole car painted, you will want to remove these trim pieces prior to painting and have them painted while off the car. This will allow you to address any body corrosion being hidden by the trim. Replace the trim prior to reinstalling the windshield. - you are taking the windshield out, arent you? Reinstallation is simple. Just replace the rivets with new ones or s/s screws. The leading edge is held down by the windshield gasket while the top mates with the roof channel. A hunk of caulk or butyl sealer is used to finish the gap at the top of the channel after fitting.

My Super has stainless windsheld trim but I believe the process is pretty much the same whether stainless or painted.

Yes I have all trim removed, as well as front and back glass. I also will be removing doors, trunk and hood. This way i can get as much coverage as possible of the new paint and address any hard to reach areas.

I was putting off removing these front trim pieces because the have some metal corrosion to the point where they are missing metal but I think I will just go ahead and remove. Once off, I can address hidden rust behind them, re-install them and shape the missing metal with either welding or filler.

Does anyone have an extra pair of these front "wing" trim pieces available? I removed mine and they are quite thinned from rust, repairing them is beyond my capabilities. Any leads would be appreciated.

Dear Vespam 5,

I have recently got a 1969 Giulia Super - parts car.
I am in the phase of gradual parting her and examining "what and where", in order to produce d-based back ups for another nice Super (1969) I have.

Since I am not a very skilled...craftsman (terrible con for an Alfisti...), I am very slow, cause I am trying not to damage anything worthwhile.

I think that I have already managed to pull out the pair you are after (front corner-ish structures, that continue from the Gutter trim and go down to the base of the front windshield...??? Am I correct in my description?)

I will take snapshots and send you back tomorrow...

Last time , I searched on my Cupboards to find decent T.I "narrow-ish" all red lenses for you, I only bumped into Carello Super lenses orange/white/red... That's why I did not reply...

I'll give it a try tomorrow then - for now, I am sending some pics of my very very slow "parting" procedure.

Good luck - be back soon.
Warm Regards,
Konstantinos.-

Putzie, I am looking for the "wings" of front trim peices which coem off with 3 rivets. I'm considering running without them too but haven't got feedback on that idea.

I believe running without A-pillar trims make much more wind noise inside the car.

If Putzie do not have them I have a pair in excellent shape available.

Looks like I have some A-pilar trims coming, thanks Alfa BB. Once they arrive, my project continues.

For some reason the PO of the car closed up the Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300Ti script holes on the trunk. I will now attempt to re-drill those
