[QUOTE=Anfanuts;1045268][QUOTE=alfa2go;1008183]Also, is there an easy way to remove the hinge pins? two of mine are stuck and yes I have removed the cotter pins. I've tried belting them with a punch and hammer but no budgie. Maybe I need to get a butane torch and put a bit of heat on the hinge attached to door part?
Bruce(Alfanuts) if you read this, when you get back from galavanting all over Europe you should start a Giulia Super Decal thread since you did so well with a Spider one a while back! or anyone else for that matter. I really would like to dress the car up with the right stickers. I only have the airbox, lube, and paint sticker. Need to find the made in Italy for the A pillar and the one that goes under the Lube sticker. Couldn't see any others on my car but I am sure there were more.

Hey Derek, back for awhile and just catching up on your great thread. AS you know my 65 could be a fair reference standard in most respects, very original and unmolested. Just a PO repaint. But, there are only 2 "stickers" and one plaque: the firewall Tipo plaque, and a lube sticker and paint sticker. Neither of which I have evaluated for correctness yet. It was complicated enough to focus on correct stickers for just one year of Spider, and a US at that. I can't imagine doing a TI/Super over all those series and variations over 17 years. OMG. Perhaps there is more consistency in stickers than in mechanical aspects!!!
On the Made in Italy plaque/sticker, my 69 Spider is a decal. I guess earlier models were aluminum plaques? If so, I can find no small rivet holes on left-hand door pillar on the 65 but it was repainted. I did get Uri's air filter housing sticker but don't know if it is correct for an early 65 or not. This thread is a good start but the task is daunting unless we focus down. I still need to get back to the TI/Super differences tables we, with Jorma, started awhile back.
I am working on several small projects to fettle a few smaller details on my 65 and will mark progress on my "resto" thread: new blue carpet set to install, replacing non-Roma Blok hose clamps (only 7), two new trunk side mats (a 65 had a complete mat set in the trunk), correct plastic c-pillar badges, and then stickers. The car only lost 2 of 100 points at the Alfa National Convention Concourse and I (foolishly) pointed many of them out. I'll leave he rear "stinger" in but I do have the correct tail-pipe also.
Cheers, Bruce

Hi Bruce, good to have you chime in again on my resto thread. I will send you some scans of the headlight assemblies soon. I think I have assembled mine in accordance to the parts manual.
When it comes to the decal issue I guess I am just trying to work out what would be right for a 65-67 Super. The Made in Italy on the A pillar was definitely a sticker on mine. The original was still partly there when I started restoring mine. I think I will just stick with the main ones that I am certain of for now. I might be able to point you in the right direction in Italy for NOS C pillar badges. I was lucky finding a couple of NOS ones on ebay a couple of years ago. The repro ones just aren't the same.
I still need to collect a few more roma blok clamps. I've got the two big ones for the air filter cross over trunking, and 3 size 19 ones.
Photos of my engine strip down to come soon. I realise I may have a few too many spare heads in my garage. I counted 6 last night!
The photo comparing your white beauty to my 3d model will be very useful. I will underlay it and see where I am out a bit. There is a step front coupe in the works as well. Just gotta find a few spare lunch breaks to progress it.

Derek, help me with a mystery. Does your car's outside headlight use the 3 position prong or "nub" mount or does it use the slotted tab style mount of the later Euro cars?

Addendum: Until an unknown date (probably '69 or so) Alfas apparently used the "nub" headlight mount. This was continued in American market cars because the nub mount design was compatable with SAE standard headlights. Cars for Europe and the rest of the world apparently changed to the Euro standard slotted tab headlight mount. What can be confusing is that headlights sold by American suppliers are for the nub/SAE style headlights. So, if you have a later Euro orgin Alfa, US headlights won't fit.

It's actually not a "nub", it's just a chrome ring that holds around the raised outer rim of the headlamp and screws to the rear suspension mount with three small screws. Then this mounts in the outer bucket (the inners do not have a bucket per se). I am not with my car or car pics now so perhaps somebody can show a detail of this. Derek, can you post the PM diagram?? Tks.

The "nub" is a mount that is attached to the headlight and not to the fixing ring. It's a common feature on SAE headlights and US Alfas.

Here are the PM diagrams. These are from a Giulia Super parts manual dated 12/70. The large outer carello diagram is identical to the one in the copy I have of the Giulia Ti PM dated 01/65.

Here is the USA only 'nipple' fog lights. Also a pic of the fixing my cursive script carellos have which looks the same as in the parts manual. This is what I think is meant by 'nub'. There is indeed a chrome ring that clamps the headlight into the bucket.

That is how my 65 mounts exactly but the lights do not have the nubs on the outside headlamp ring. I assume they are to get the lights properly aligned. And this is different from my US69, or Euro 72 or 76.
The "inners" mount the same way but do not have the protective metal bucket, but only a rubber boot at the back. Same early and later.
When did they change to the later headlamp mounting system with the three long slotted tabs attached to the headlamp?
Thanks Derek, B

Guys as chance would have it, my 'new' Parts Manual in english arrived today. It was printed September 1967. It shows the mounting tab type as Bruce has described. 862001 would have been mid '67.

Hi there Derek..... this was what I was trying to ask when I sent lamps over. Our cars here normally comes with the two side prongs that slot into a screw mounted on to the bowl. Yours the beaded Carellos fir GTV I soldered on two prongs to make it work.

Tsu, here in the States our cars are the opposite! In order to fit the the Marchals to my Super, I'll have to either change the buckets (doable as I have some) or solder slotted tabs onto the lights themselves.
Many people tend think the all Alfa headlights mount the same way when, clearly, there are variations. I wonder if the change to slotted tabs was a universial change in Europe and the rest of the world or if they were limited only to Alfas?

I would be also interested to know if any other maker has used those slotted tab versions. They are very hard to find, even here in europe.

Hi Jorma,
Please tell me which sidecar your lamp got broken. I'm getting some more in and will send to you a new one, you only need to cover the shopping and hope it doesn't get broken again. Been very busy with work lately. The Giulia is waiting for paint job now but nothing done with mechanicals yet. I've also started on a 1750 GTV Mark 1 project which I drove from Malaysia to Thailand to have the restoration done. She blew a head gasket on the way as the radiator wasn't flushed by my mechanic. But she made it to Bangkok after 1600 gruelling kms. I'll start a thread soon on her.
