Hi,

Firstly, a sincere "thank you" to Simon for creating this new forum devoted to the Romeos & their F12 & A12 descendants, in fact all those light vans, busses etc which were available with the 750, 101 or 105 series classic twin-can petrol engines, as well as the diesel engined variants.

I wonder if a consensus can be reached on an everyday title for this forum? I suggest the Romeo Forum, much easier on the tongue & keyboard than The Romeo, Romeo 2, Romeo 3, A11, A12, F11 & F12 Forum!

I look forward to reading lots of interesting posts about them & their owners & hope to be able to offer something of interest too...

Wow, it's great to have a forum for such cult Alfas (well, maybe far less so than the bus/truck forum, haha)!! We still have not got to fix the brake problem on my mother's Romeo 2, but hoping to take care of that as soon as I go back home again in a month. I keep forgetting to give you her Romeo 2's chassis number so here it is: 13768. The dashboard has a round opening (about 3" in diameter) right in the middle and the "fuel (petrol)" gauge says "combustibile" so I assume that she was equipped with that infamous supercharged diesel when she was new. The coachwork was done by a carozzeria called St. Giorgio of Brescia, Italy. It's in red right now but I see bright blue paint everywhere underneath the red so she was painted blue at some point.

Big Thank You from me to Simon and Tony for getting this forum started (Tony, I assume that you asked Simon to start it)!! Now that we have it, let's keep it active and invite many, many fellow BBers to the forum!!

Hello Tiger,

Glad to hear that you like the forum, Simon must take the credit for the engineering work in getting it into operation., it is easy to come up with ideas!

Regarding the pantechnican, diesel engined cabs had a water temp gauge in the centre of the dash, near the screen, petrol versions had an enamel AR Milano badge in place. AFAIK, "combustabile" just means "fuel", & the diesel has a different type of ignition switch & key, but I stand to be corrected.

I need pictures!! I don't believe we have many over here in the States, but I would bet my wife would trade in the Chrysler Town & Country for an Alfa Van!!

They have DVD players, A/C, power everything, cruise, tilt, sunroof, and get 26 mpg doing 80 mph on the highway.......right!!??

I have had my F-12 Diesel Van up to 100 on the freeway. (Well, OK, that's KPH.) It is strong, slow, and loud. It feels like you are driving a large truck when trying to turn with that manual steering.

Collivanfan, Nice website! I've just been reading up on the Romeo van. I like the quirkiness of it, its a great shame there's not many of them left

As you seem to have an extended knowledge of the more unusual side of Alfas, do you know of any diesel powered Berlinas (like my 2000) or maybe even a colliwagon?
Just wondered, as the Perkins diesel engine that would have been fitted to them would have been sourced from Peterborough here in England so could there be any "test cars" out there???

Hi Ian,

No knowledge of any mules, maybe in Italy as I would expect Alfa Romeo to have carried out the development using Perkins supplied engines as they would be selling the finished product. Maybe a car or two was sent to Perkins for evaluation, but likely to be returned, if only because LHD??
