The Centro Documentation Service is not functioning at the moment, see this tread

The last tread says it isn't possible to guess when it will.

As mentioned, your VIN does not show to be valid. However, as a reference point. I know a 1996 model that is 6017xxx and the VIN ZAR91600007000000 shows a build date of 10/10/2000. So misleading 6943493, high 6xxxxxx VIN is difficult to say. Alfa did not make 916s in the hundreds of thousands, they made tens of thousands.

Centro Documentation Services is still down - I tried two days ago and got the same old "in a few months" reply. Given the traditional Italian approach to urgency, I anticipate that "a few months" means 2019 or so.

Somewhere in the engine compartment *) is a plate with the VIN no and some other details.
*) Probably on the slam panel in front of the engine.
