Awesome!!! The closest I've ever been to driving the Nurburgring is on my Playstation. To drive it in an old Alfa would be a dream! Well done on winning the 2litre class!
Thanks for posting your pics.

Quote:My fastest lap at Nürburgring-nordschleife is 10:22:857 It was the complete track.
I noticed your mention of lap time on the old Ring as I remembered that todays Ring tests in the magazine Sport Auto quote much lower times than this. So I did some research for comparison which might be of interest.
So some quotes from the magazine: 20.6 km
Golf IV GTI 8.54 min
Alfa 156 GTA 8.51 min
Honda S2000 8.39 min
Then a leap up
Ferrari F430 F1 7.55 min
So in comparison some qualifying times from Alfa racing on the Ring.
1970,1971= 22.835 km, 1983= 20.832 km
2000GTAm 1970 9.26.7 min
2000GTAm 1971 9.14.1 min
GTV6 2.5 1983 8.25.45 min
This tells me that your times must be good compared to the factory racers and drivers. However todays road cars have evolved so much that they could overtake you in direct comparison.

Why is there a pair of pliers taped to the back of your cars?

The GT-Am up to 2 lieter class and the Giulia up to 1600!!
Now we are abele to winn the champion ship with the GT-Am.
Everybody in the team is like in trance!!
I was never in 18 years hist.motorracing so near to winn a championship
Our last race for the classic trophy is at Nürburgring Nordschleife at 22-23-Sept. 07

Vice Chmpion
Hello all,
Last weekend we had the last long diszance race at the nordschleife in our championship, there was only a small chance to winn it for me. Bud the english team of Marc and Brian Lambert winn it on an MG-B GT.
We finnished the season in 2nd place, or we are
VICE-CHAMPION.
We raced over the season exact 3368,24 KM with the same 2000 eingine,
6 Set of wheels, 50l Oil, 10L Gearöil, 10L öil for the Diff.
6 sets of brakepads, 1 set brake discs, and....and....and......
It was one of the hardest seasons I ever had, here some Fotos
have a look here

Firstly @Markus, Big congrats on 2nd place.. You really have reason to be proud! Hope we can see you again next year?
secondly @Gabor,
I asure you Markus would be faster then almost anyone on the ring! The times you are quoting are not full laps which is the Nordschelife plus Grand Prix track. This is the lap time Markus is quoting..
The times quited by Autosport Magazine is Bridge to Gantry time(BTG) which is the time you pass under the bridge at the beginning of the Nordschliefe lap untill you pass under the Gantrry soon after exiting the last corner comming on to the straight at Döttinger Höhe..It's not possible during public says to do a full lap of the Nordschleife since you have to pass though the toll booth which are located at the middle of the straight.. Basically on public days you coast from the Gantry to the entrance to cool the car down. When you start a lap you get on about 300 meters before the bridge so youare usually in 4th gear as you are passing under it.
link to a nice smooth 9:30 BTG lap in a 2.0 GTV 916 driven by a good friend here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6oD_15zDHd4
So in other words Markus's full lap time is BTG plus almost the entire straight section from Döttinger Höhe to Coca Cola Kurve plus the Grand Prix track! It means Markus is probably doing sub 8 min BTG laps..
I thus far did a personal best of 8:56 BTG in my rebuilt 156 3.2 fitted with uprated suspension, brakes and Limited Slip. Friends of mine are doing 8:30-8:40 BTG in rebuilt 156 3.0 similar spec to mine(perhaps a bit more track oriented then my own 156, which is set up as a fast road car)
When you are doing BTG times below 9:30 you are rarely passed by other drivers on Public days (Touristenfahrten) below 9 min you are passing a lot of cars for sure! even serious cars such as Porsches, M3, Subaru and Evo's..A lot is in knowing the track.
The time for the 156 GTA at 8:51 sounds pretty accurate for a stock version given a good driver. I believe Autosport uses the same driver for comparison tests, and the guy is supposedly very qualified! I'd definitely struggle to get close to 9:15 in a stock 156 GTA.

Lap Time
So there was a littel mistake in my post of the laptimes
So I have looked in my boocks again
10,22,857 is on the track with 24,358 with Dunlop Sliks 200-580-15
10,39,554 is on the track with 24,358 with Avon A048 205/60/13 street tyre
10,54,791 is on the track with 25,378 With Avon A048 205/60/13 street tyre
11,07,926 is on the track with 25,941 with avon A048 205/60/13 street tyre
The slick is faster as the Avon historic tyre
sorry for ny mistake
regards
