My GTA is now in California
After a 13 month restoration by Roman Auto Prep my GTA (nicknamed Francesca by Paul Spruell) was delivered on Monday to Scott Gray in California. The first photo is Roman loading Francesca in Michigan. He was sad to see her go. I used Thomas C. Sunday for Transport and they did a great job getting the GTA here with no scratches. I had only seen the car at Paul's shop and then once at Roman's until the Amelia Island show
The next photo is the big rig in an Orange county suburb, then a shot inside the rig. Trucker Tom allowed me ship the show tires and spares with the car at the same price. Total cost from Attica Michigan to Orange County California $1780.
The last photo is Scott Gray and my wife Linda supervising the unloading.

More photos of the arrival
Scott and Linda continue the unloading.
The trucker checks completes the hand off once we get her on the ground.
Everyone has a look including a neighbor. I do a once over.
Lucky Scott gets the first drive in California. Since he built the engine he had to make sure it was right. It sounded great as he opened it up on the street. Thank god no poletzi were in the area---nothing like a full race GTA in the suburbs

Will this be your exit from the Alfa scene then?

More Francesca photos
Roman surprised me with the final Gaston Andrey Decal on the door (we did not have this decal in time for Amelia Island). Gaston Andrey was very helpful in getting me some photos I used to have the artwork generated. Anyone that needs an early Gaston Andrey decal please contact me. I will send you the artwork.
The last photos are Francesca tucked away for final race preparation by Scott. It is great to the GTA nearby and I can't wait to get her on the track.

What gave you that idea? Scott is just doing some last minute race preparation e.g. fitting the airbox and some other details before we take her to Willow for a shakedown. I am hooked on owning and driving an Alfa and wish I bought a GTA ten years ago. We have also scheduled a test day at Sears point to get some track time prior to WCC debut.

O, gotcha, I thought you were selling her. When are you going to Sears Point and with which group? I'm looking to go to Sears Point this summer and I'd like to see what other venues people recommend.
I don't know if you've been to Sears before, but MIND THE WALLS !!

My mistake I just thought everyone knew Scott Gray was a premier Alfa engine builder and tuner located on the west coast. He already owns some very cool GTA's and doesn't need mine.
I have driven Sears Point over the years but need to get retrained in the GTA. I am doing an open test day on May 29th at Sears. There is also an open test day on May 28th.
My next event is the General Racing Wine Country Classic May 30-June 1.
I have also entered the HMSA LSR Laguna Seca event June 24-25. The only other event at Sears this year I recall is the CSRG event in October.

Mike thanks for the Amelia Island photos. As you can see from the recent photos Roman had to modify the original style Autodelta Roll bar with a diagonal to accommodate the shoulder straps now required. Were you the gentleman that was happy to see the original steering wheel back on the car?

I don't recall mentioning the steering wheel but then I don't remember what I had for lunch, either! We met through WL Wagnon who showed his Jr. Z at Amelia in 2005.
I found this 1998 picture of a GTA Spruell ran at the time. It had Horst Kwech's name on the door. Same car? Both are RHD.

Xin loi, Bob - (Excuse me, Bob)
Pardon my ignorance, but would it not have been more economically feasible to have Roman send your car to Chicago, where you could have defended the Left Coast's superiority at the wheel-to-wheel competition at Autobahn?

Yes this is the same car after a fantastic restoration by Roman Tucker to the 1966 Horst Kwech Trans-Am livery and running gear. Paul ran the car in the C-sedan trim it had when he purchase it in 1985. Bill Porter a prior owner had added the fender flares and ran the GTA with a 1300 in C-sedan.
