The Renault 4CV is not a "microcar" in the sense of a Messerschmidt, Goggomobile or Bond Equipe, but actually a fully-functional real car that just happens to be very small, like a Fiat 500 or 600, in the necessary post-WW2 European idiom.

It's long been a favorite of mine since it had nice lines and four doors...much easier to use the extra seating than in the Fiat counterparts. Engine was tiny, too, on the order of 600-800cc, but I forget the exact specs. Power was, like everything else, miniscule...maybe 20-25bhp depending on the test method being quoted, but it wasn't much. The techno geeks can surely chime in with that info! It was water-cooled, rear mounted and attached to a 3-speed floor shift. You could also order a sliding steel sunroof, which was really amazing in those days for such an inexpensive car. Other makers used cloth sunroofs. Early models had great-looking 5-spoke wheels, too!
