Cartoons to the contrary, I am not from SoCal, but I caught an episode of Car Crazy with Barry Meguiar just this past week and he featured 'Cars and Coffee' of which I was familiar only through the bb. This TV show obviously did not feature Alfa, though I saw a couple in the background, including a Zagato 4R.
I'd be there every week if I lived closer. Guess I'll have to make it some time when I'm down visiting my son in Hollywood.

I saw the show too. It was great that Barry spent so much time on the event. I have been several times and I live about an hour drive away. It's fun for me to see the cars and you never know what or who you will see there. Last year Chip Foose was there with two of his then new creations. and he spent a lot of time in the Alfa corral looking.

Fantastic photos. I saw a friend of mine in the background of one photo - he had his cell phone up to his head - talking to me, I think! He called me from Cars and Coffee yesterday to tell me about the Alfas. Too funny. I'm sending him the image...

Does anyone know the owner of the grey metallic GTV6 shown in 4th and 5th picture of the first post?

Great event. First time. I was so surprised by the amount of cars/people already present by 7.20am! I left Ventura County around 6am and thought I would be among the first ones... yeah right!! Had to park my Spider in the Public parking lot Saw some gorgeous Alfa's there. Some other great cars too. Seems like a fun place to go time to time (I would be there every Saturday if it was not 1h30 away from home - and if I didn't have a 20 month old son at home Thanks for the Pics. Hope to see more and more! I am SO mad I forgot my camera (and my Dad forgot his as well... that's waking up at 5.30am for you, Sir!) What about an all Spider day ??

Cars and Coffee Alfa Romeo - sarcatic again !
Hi again,
Was a nice bunch of Alfa's.
I am very surprised that of all the pics I have seen and all the comments I have read there is no special set of pics and comments about thta gorgeous and very very rare Green Alfa Romeo Sprint Speciale;
If it had 4 big tail pipes, 16 carburators, 8 overhead cams V64 engine and big numbers stuck on the doors perhaps it would have attracted more attention.
Do you guys really know the SS and what it can do with a stocke engine ?
Do you guys know that this is a very rare car and a fabulous body design ?
Sorry to say, but it is a zillion times more desirable than any 2.6 regardless of looks and shape. Even if the 2.6 is fun to look at. And the 2.6 was a commercial failure due to very poor mechanical reliability in its days (motor).
Please do raise your hats to the SS and to the owner to keep it in such gorgeous shape.
I wish all of you could drive somewhere an SS where there are no speed limits.
Claude
P.S. Is there any GTC in the Aroc or BBers ?

I'd like to see more of the Alfetta Sprint Veloce painted the same color as my old car: metallic bronze/brown (Luci del Bosco)! I've only seen two others like it and that one looks really clean w/stainless bumpers (also like mine). Great photos, thanks.

Claude,
I know that car and the owners fairly well. I met them at the predecessor event at Crystal Cove. They brought their SS to the Motorsports show in San Diego's Little Italy three years ago. That year we had I believe 3 Sprint Speciale's on the street. There are actually several in Southern California. They show up at various shows.
There was a GTC that was owned by a San Diego Alfisti, but changing jobs made him move to Massachusetts where he took the GTC, but I believe he subsequently sold it.
Ciao!

Perhaps not everybody's a fan of the SS? Beauty is in the mind of the beholder, mind you.
I understand that the SS came with the Veloce engine, but was never successful on-track as it was simply too porky, in contrast to the lighter SZ. Is there anything else other than the body shape that makes it truly stand out from other Giuliettas?

Hi again,
As I said "I wish all of you could drive an SS on an open road with no speed limits to see and realize what a street car of those years can do with a 1.6L engine".
The giuletta's were beautiful cars, not high performance street cars and not meant to be as such. The SS was. But I guess that the design did not appeal to the American eyes and the performances it could deliver were of no interest on roads where speed limits are so stricts and only acceleration from 0 to 60 counts (I had a plymouth Road Runner and a 427 Cobra amongst others).

Let me state up front for anyone that has missed it....I am not an Alfa purist; I don't particularly care for the original SS body style. I much prefer what Tom Zat did to it both in styling and speed. On one of the threads on the bb, I believe, is my recollection of riding with him in one of the original ones in Ohio. An experience of a lifetime; never to be forgotten.
