Alfa Owners Creative Gallery

Hello to everyone,

I will spending the wintertime doing some cosmetic improvments and also mechanical and perofrmance on my 1750GTV. I would like to see how some of you have put finishing touch on your cars.

I am quite interested to see what everyone has under the bonnet (engine bay)...what little things, any you have done to make things looking nice or special...even just nice looking original...pictures of cars you have come across would also be OK.

Other things that people have done nicley inside of cockpit, or even on outside also would love to see...of course it would also good to know about some products your using to do the job.

I think this could a fun show...and good for our inspiration.

Good Weekend,
Lorenzo.

Very Nice

I am deciding between just keeping everything clean and simple or making nice colour scheme under the bonnet. My car is White and I saw in Cannes last year a white Ferrari with white engine cover and red Ferrari Script...it was quite unusual and nice. Thiking of doing something the same.

Funny that, my car used to be white before I restored her.

I am seeing some photo on another thread showing some nice things under the bonnet...I think now my preferance is more leaning to a nice clean simple look Although some of the paint schemes I have seen are quite attractive, it is almost to bad in some way to cover up the original aluminum block and covering. Any suggestion how to make the engine and carbs looking nice and clean and original looking?...maybe these question belong on a different section here.

Lorenzo

Always wanting to be different, I went with a white cam cover to match the car. The Alfa script and cover nuts are polished.
Detailed carbs always look nice too.

Very Nice Papajam...

Like I say before, I was also thinking about the white cam cover with red alfa romeo script and maye red oilcap, with red leads and maybe the even red bolts for the cover.
For now I am leening to cleaning and detailing the aluminum parts really well and carbs to...then to paint the alfascript on the cam cover red and the cover botls eastman gold...I will be puting in a recondition radiator so I will maybe paint the top with the eastman gold product, as well as maybe some other parts. Your shiny carbs look great, any suggestion for cleaning them and making everthing as clean as possible?

Lorenzo

Lorenzo-
There's no way I'm going to post a pic of MY engine bay after looking at Papa's immaculate and beautiful example, but I will toss this idea out to you- a polished cam cover. Here's one I polished last year, and I'm currently doing a 1600 cover and cold airbox top for my 2 liter. I personally love the polished aluminum. Papa's Italian-flag-colored-camcover-bolts are a sweeeet touch, though!

That polished cam cover is very nice...you may have convince me to do the same. as I way saying before, I am leening to more simple and maybe this is just way to do it. Can I ask stupid question how to polish it, what material I should use.

Lorenzo-
No such thing as a stupid question! Polishing the cam cover takes lots of time, but not too much else. Sandpaper for the early going, then scotchbrite wheels on a drill or angle grinder, then rouge on a sewn cotton wheel with a bench grinder...lots of hours-this one was VERY rough, and took me about 20 hours to complete, but I really like the look.

I love shiny! Not a GTV...but wish I had one!

Polished components, 45mm carbs, MSD ignition under the hood of the 78
Polished phonedials with later center caps for the 92
Chromed daytonas with custom center caps for the 78
HID headlights on both
Plexi covers soon to have stainless bumpers on the 78
Red stitched boot cover for the 92
Custom cruise under the hood of the 92
Pearl white on both.

These lists go on and on. I think its the best part of owning one of these cars. Add a little glitz to the original components without taking away from the original style or beauty of the car.

Best Regards,
John M

Thanks for the info... I have spare 1750 motor that I am having the cylinder head cutdown and ported, so I could use the cam cover from this and still driving my car. Sound like a good winter project.
