Even worse, I once pulled into a shopping mall and was waved over to a roped off area. I then noticed it was for a VW club gathering. I had to point out to the waver that I was driving an Alfa Romeo - not a Scirocco!
Sz was designed by French designer, Robert Opron, he was a head of FIAT Centro Stile those time. Mr. Opron designed Citroen SM, we can clearly see the influence of this amazing car to SZ.
Opron had very little to do with the eventual design of the SZ. His own designs did indeed look like a racier Citroen (awful) and though he was head of one of the design teams it was Antonio Castellana who was responsible for both the interior and exterior of the wonderful SZ.
I don't know where this myth about Opron comes from, perhaps from himself... reflected glory ?
