Bp have just introduced a 102 octane fuel over here @ ......wait for it £11:00 a gallon! Our 98 octane costs a mere £4:60 a gallon.
Believe me, you guys have it easy over there.

Chris

I'll second Chris' comment. Face it guys, motorists in the US have been insulated from the real-world price of gasoline for decades, and like it or not you'll just have to reduce your reliance on cars by more careful journey planning and reliance on public transport. Because eventually we will be returning to the horse and cart if alternatives cannot be found, so we'll just have to eke out what's left.

Alex.

Fuel Cost

Took the Spider out to clear the cobwebs. On my return I came across a petrol station on the A23 (main road into London) selling 4 star at £0.998 per litre......don't think I will do doing too many pleasure drives at that price!!!!

At the moment im paying around $1.50 per LITRE for premium fuel.

And you get about 3.8 litres in ONE of your gallons! That's like paying $5.70/gallon!

So stop your complaining!

And even then fuel here is still considered cheap by European standards.

Consider yourselves very lucky

Ban the bloody SUV's i say!

Whoah...it seems Australia is not getting as hard done by as most other countries....... perhaps I/we should stop complaining...
If only you had other charts on our interest rates, income tax percentages and housing costs it'd give a good indication of how we're getting nailed in most other areas though.... (oops complaining again )

I think everyone is feeling the pain, as it's all relative to what we are used to paying. Americans have had it good for a long time, but they too are starting to feel the pinch!

While I'm not one to get political on here, please indulge me for a moment while I rant and rave, hehe.

Let me just say that from an idealogical point of view I don't care that fuel prices are increasing if it means people will stop being so car dependent and start using alternative transport.

The problem with places like Australia, USA and Canada, is that we have allowed our cities to develop in a completely car dependent way because we all wanted our quarter acre, big house and three cars. If we'd adopted the European model of smaller more condensed cities with higher density housing then perhaps we wouldn't need to use the car everytime we buy milk!

Plus many of our social problems can be attributed to this because there is no village life anymore. The 'global village' has replaced it, which might be good in an economic sense, but it's causing people to become disconnected. What's the good of a global village when you're too scared to let your kids play in the park?!

If fuel prices are hurting, then take a train, or walk, or buy a bike, or move house to an area where you don't need to take the car everytime you leave the house!

Anyway, that's my $0.02 worth

Someone is laughing all the way to the bank over these prices. And I thought we were going to get even cheaper gas out of all of this. Oh well...at least one population is liberated.

I think these people who've been saying for the past 50 years that we're going to run out of oil in 5 years are MORONS! I bet we haven't used half the oil we actually have! If wer'e smart, we'll use other country's oil resources and when those are tapped out, we'll focus on our own; we have lots here and people dont even know it!

There is a company based in Byron Bay that will restore vintage Vespas and Lambrettas for you, i imagine they are all done in a country where labour is very cheap and deported off to the buyers country. You choose all the colour options and accessories as if you were ordering a new one from the Vespa factory in 1953.

All the mechanicals are sorted and they really do look new. Not sure what they cost but i have been tempted to find out! If i lived closer to the city i would probably have one by now, would save a fortune on petrol and its still an Italian classic

No financial interest etc..

Unhappy Time to revive this thread.....it's been 2 years since anyone posted here

The Arco, Valero and Shell stations are at the traffic light at the end of the Seaward Avenue exit from the southbound HWY-101 exit in Ventura, CA. The Chevron is just a block away at the intersection of Seaward & Harbor. The Mobil station (the one I frequent the most) is 3 miles from the house in Oxnard, CA. The Mobil station has the lowest diesel price in the area at the moment, and the Chevron has the highest I've seen in the area.

Prices for regular are averaging about $3.75-$3.90/gal here in N. Calif outside of the large metro areas. Some stations are pumping premium at $4.10/gal with Diesel hitting $4.25/gal with summer prices yet to hit just before Memorial Day. Thank Alfa for 10-15 gal. gas tanks!

Prices now in England are £1.08 per litre which equates to;
£1.08 = $2.15 per litre
1 US gallon = 3.7854 litre
Therefore it works out at a STAGGERING (3.7854 x $2.15=) $8.14 per US gallon and you don't even want to know how much more diesel is!
Prices in Europe are a little less but not by much.
