I agree. It looks as though those cables are doing more body damage than the accident itself. I wonder whether they could have placed some kind of cradle underneath the car before it was lifted clear of the water?

Just guessing, but that's probably a dummy that rode with the car into the deep to make it look like the driver was still behind the wheel for the movie- or maybe the body of the driver!
