A friends original, unrestored 69 Spider suffered a bit of a mishap the other day. A mechanical failure of the storage lift that the car was on resulted in the lift platform (with the car on it) dropping some 4.5 feet to the concrete floor. As the front suspension compressed, the oilpan hit the platform crossmember breaking both oilpans and pushing the oilcap into the hood. The rear faired no better as the platform crossmember put a significant dent in the fuel tank, the lift ramps damaged the rear lower quarters on both sides and the left rear quarter dropped to reveal a kink in the wheelwell over the left rear tire.
